Dammit, the floor is slippery. Is there any magic powder, liquid, gel, wax, or cream that I can put on it so I won't fall and crack my skull open?
It's a hardwood floor with some kind of finish on it, and it's actually not my house, so I don't want to risk damaging the floor or finish.

So sand is out of the question?
How about wearing rockclimbing shoes?
Perhaps using a floor polish rather then a table polish may help?

Al ;)

Go barefoot, that helps. Wearing socks is terrible. I'm sure that you can find some very grippy sandals out there that you can wear whilst in the house.

BTW, funny thread title. I thought we were going to discuss the tactical merits of a "slippery wood floor", a la Home Alone. :)

Thats what happens when you clean your floor. In the interest of safety, no more house cleaning!:p

slash-5 has got a point there. My floor is very grippy, except for the patch of sawdust under the worktable. :)

I cracked up when I read the title! When I was in basic training, we had an inspection coming up, so we decided to do a really great job on the floor. We cleaned and waxed and polished -- OK, OK, we used this spray, like spitshine in a can -- and when the TI came into our room, his heel hit that floor and he went right over on his back!

Man, one thing basic training teaches you is how to keep a straight face when laughing would not be in your best interests.

rotlfmao:D
I still don't know what to do about the floor, but that was pretty funny.
