Slippie question (Tight Blades)

I had a couple of questions that maybe ya'll could help me with. I found a little bitty Case stockman my Dad gave me years ago. It is a real nailbreaker. The clip blade opens fine, but the other two are a bear to open. I was wondering if I filed the spring a bit, would that ease the tension? Also, I see some of these custom slippies that the springs don't stick up at the half-stop. Would filing the springs flush on this little Case ruin it? I know enough to know to leave the Dremel in the drawer and do it a little at a time with a file...I just thought it would be cool to have a knife in which the springs sit flush.

The springs should already sit flush in the open and closed positions. If you file them flush with the blade partially open, they will sit below the liners at open and closed.

Thanks...think I'll just leave it alone! I did a search tonight and was able to determine it was a 1974 model.

I reduced the spring tension successfully on a small sunfish, but it involved partially disassembling the knife.
I didn't mind because it was an inexpensive rough rider, but during the process, I could see how easy it would be to mess up and there was a lot of luck involved.

You can do it by grinding the entire back if the knife to thin the spring, and that requires no disassembly.
I'd be reluctant to try it on a 'keeper' like an old case though.
