(I asked this just before the crash and never got to read the replies
)
This is a bit of technical problem which Im sure someone here knows the answer to I have a Cold Steel Scimitar which has a nested titanium liner lock. The problem is that after several openings I noticed a black deposit forming on the locking face on the tang and when pressure is applied to the spine, the liner will slip a little causing blade play. The lock is still engaged but there is now vertical play.
So I disassembled it and used a pencil eraser to remove the black deposit on the locking face of the tang and it locked up perfectly, until about 20 openings later I got the same problem when the black deposit started to build up.
Earlier I did take it apart and lube with Militec possibly some has gotten onto the tang locking face?? How do I clean it just to be sure? Any other ideas what could be going wrong here?
I wish I could return to Cold Steel, but I live in New Zealand!!
Thanks in advance,
