Need advise on slitting .050 titanium for linerlock spring:
1) Number of teeth per inch
2) Blade thickness
3) Turning and feed speed of milling machine
4) Any other considerations I might have left out
Regards to all--

I use an .025 x 2 3/4" dia. screw slotting saw with 72 teeth. my current one is high speed steel and I run it around 60 - 80 rpm. and use a spray mister or "cool tool". I have used carbide but I hate crying when they break so I go with the cheapies (around $15.00 here) and they work fine.

I use the little abrasive disks that dremal makes and my drill press. spin the disks as fast as you can go slow. you will use three or four but they are cheap.

This is one great forum with fast, spot on replies--thank you for the quick responses--

Washard, I use these cut off discs and they don't wear out for along time!

You can buy a mandrel for them or make one if you have access to a metal lathe. I made a mandrel years ago and it still works fine.
You'll need to have a jig to hold the liner while you cut the lock tab.
You can easily make one like the one I use. It's just a section of angle iron with a notch cut out where the disc cuts the lock tab. Here's a couple pix.

You have to mount a pivot in the right spot and then line the lock tab up so it will be parallel with the base of the angle iron and mark the position of one of the tapped holes in the liner. Then drill a hole in the jig so you can attach the liner to it. If you need any help, shoot me an email or sing out in this thread!!

Here's some pix of my mandrel.
