My new Rukus seems to have a 1/16in-blade play, it feels sloppy, When my blade is opened in the lock position, and I am looking straight down on it. I hold the handle with my right hand and wiggle the blade back and forth. This is wear the blade play occurs. I love the knife but I’m really disappointed. I sent a letter to Benchmade yesterday. I really do not want o part with this blade for service work. I own 4 other BM’s going back 6 years. And all of them are tight with no play. I guess my question to the group is, If I tighten the main 6star nut, will that tighten things up? That said would that also make it too tight as not to be able to flick it? It seems almost too easy to flick now. Final question, Where can a fellow get the correct wrench to do this, without ordering the wrench set from Benchmade?

Thanks Scotty

if you go to your local radio shack they have a small set for computers. Has all the little 6star heads, small allens, ect. I bought one for 14 bucks. Taken apart spydercos, benchmades, and everything else.

Isn't it a T-8 and T-6 for the main body?

Edited to add, corrrection noted, its t10 and t8,thanks.

The obvious answer to your question is that it will only help if the blade play is a result of a loose pivot. If it is because of a defect you are going to have to send it back to Benchmade, or get it replaced by the company that sold it to you.

As long as the play is not up and down you can fix it with just the wrenches. I have seen up and down in 6 different Rukus. I am still trying to find one that doesn't have it because I love that knife. I hope you get it worked out.

I'm pretty sure the pivot is a T-10 Torx but I've not looked at my wrench in so long I couldn't be sure.

Can anyone confirm the T10 for the pivot?

Thanks Keith
I will try the torx wrench, on the pivet screw. I have never messed with any of my ohter BM's so its new to me. Thanks for your wisdom.

I would take the pivot screw all the way out and clean it and then put some blue loctite on it to prevent it from backing out any further. Then screw it back in tight and adjust it to your preference.

Let it sit for like 25 minutes and the blue loctite should be all set.

Also there are 2 pivot screws. Am I supposed to take both out or is there a certain side that come out?

Shoot if you are just needing a quick touch up of one screw go down to Sears and simply use one of their torx drivers out on display to tighten yours up. They sell some out on the tool rack here where you can try it in the pivot before hand. You can have your pivot play adjusted before you even pay for it if you do it in the isle.

T-10 is correct.

Sorry to sound slow, but do I remove both sides of the pivot screw? Will this null the warrantee? Or is it only one side that controls the tension? Please advise.

Home Depot - Husky Torx Wrench Set, $5.97. Very handy and the extra bits store in the handle.

What they said. Go to Home depot and buy the Husky small torx set. I did. Compact, economical, well made, multiple torx in each tool!!!

Thanks everyone! The T-10 torx wrench worked like a champ. I am totally back in love with this Rukus. Now my next purchase with non-cigarette money will be an Apex pro Sharpener. All of you advice was worth allot to me and if I could I would buy you all a Fat Tire. Thanks again you guys are the greatest.
