I'm trying to redo a knife in leather and the slot i need for the tang is 7/32 x 3/4 long , so does anyone know of a oblong punch this size?
or How do you do this slot without taking the round hole punch and punching a lot of holes?

Punch two round holes at opposite ends, then take the knife and cut from one hole to the other.....presto, you have slot!

Either that Vern or just buy one from Tandy. I was in Dallas last weekend and could not resist the chance to stop by one of the Tandy stores. :) Anyway I know I saw one about 3/4 to 1 inch long.

Hey Vern! (couldn't resist)

Rayban's method is the best for making a slot, especially if you end up making a lot of different length slots. If your making strap slots, you cant beat the oval cutters. I have one for making slots for the keeper straps on my sheaths, a nice clean hole with little effort. Avoid those tubular ones as they are too thin, I bent one in the first hole.

Bye Vern!

If the tang is too wide, can you grind it narrower? If the tang is too narrow, can you fill the voids in the leather "washers" with epoxy?
