As I sit in front of my computer screen tonight flipping open my Benchmade Stryker I can think of nothing but knives. Sure I have enough to last me 10 lifetimes already, but I always need more. I'm sure many of you feel the same way. There is just something about them.

In my everyday life I do very little that requires the use of a knife. Yesterday I cut the plastic wrappers off a few compact disc... wait I think I already told you guys about that. Oh well.

Whenever I get a new knife I like to carry it around for a few days and play with it. this can be a problem if I get to many knives in quick succession. I told you guys the story about the time the cop pulled me over and I had about 6 blades on me including 1 or 2 automatics.

Yeah... well I am just rambeling on trying to put off projects that I have been putting off for weeks. Oh... I did not get those Beretta Airlights, I ended up getting Spyderco Spydercards instead. I got them all in plain edge except for one. I figure if the person who gets one does not like knives they can like it for the novelty.

James I'm still waiting for you to post a pic of your Durio folder in the custom forum. I would really like to see some more examples of Freds work if anyone out there has one of his pieces feel free to post it under "Fred Durio" in the Custom Knife Forum. It will be much appreciated.

I still have not scanned my Jim Martin custom my scanner broke last week and still has not been repaired. I was going to have it fixed last friday, but I was sick so I'll try again this week.

If anyone has a Sony DSC-F505 or a MVC-FD91 Please tell me what you think of it. I am thinking of getting one. (Leaning towards the MVC-FD91)

I'm sure by now your as tired of reading as I am of typing so I am going to sign off.

John

O.K. I have to admit I missed the story about the six blades and the cop. What happened? Did he play with any of them? Or was he one of those uptight officers?

John, LOL you are among friends! I too am seriously afflicted by EWD (edged weaponry disease) and often can think of nothing else. My Busse #7 is on the way, as is my Carnivour sheath from Mike Sastre. I'll be sending out the deposit tomorrow for my Griffith Patrolman, and am currently wet-molding a leather sheath for a nice little drop point hunter in the laundry room. Tomorrow I'll try to finish file working the liners on my Carnivour, probably while wearing my new La Griffe around my neck. Oh yeah-I'm also about to send my EK Commando knife out for G10 scales and a kydex sheath. I'm toying with the idea of putting G10 on the Busse, too. Ain't life grand?

Hi Gene,

The cop pulled me over because I don't have plates on my car and never even got to see my knives. (Thanks God!) I ended up with a warning and just drove off (I did slow down in the area where he had pulled me over on the way back.)

I thought, "oh well at least I diddn't get in 'trouble'" and forgot about the incident. Or so I thought! Time however would tell a different story, today instead of going real fast on the interstate I did not even crack 90. I guess I was "Scared Strait". lol!

Hello John,

I guess it was probably for the best that he didn't get to see your blades. Some of them darn officers are just itchin for a reason to "bust" someone. I have found that there are a lot of really nice cops out there, but man when you run into a nasty one he or she is usually nasty to the 10th power.

I used to do Gun Shows in my 300ZX. You can imagine what it looked like loaded! A COP pulled me over one day and asked if he could search teh car.

Well while he was searching I sat on the lid of his car. He started to see he may have a problem so he called for back up. I had 4 cops searching my car.

While watching them search I told them when they are done they better pack it back good as it takes me a long time to do that. I also told them that is they wanted a great knife I would make them a deal. I also told them that was not meant to be a bribe

Well when all was done I got no ticket, they repacked my car better than I did and I had $140 of their money

Hey John, how much did those spydercard cost you and where did you get them at? How much does an Airlight go for anyways??

I do know what you mean about trying to use your knife to open anything

My GF thinks I'm crazy. Oh well :O

But yeah, I have a Fuji MX-2700 which I think was the best one on the market when I bought it. i did some heavy research on digital cameras at the time and mine has 1800 X 1200 resolution which is 2.3 Mega-Pixels. Check this one out if you like a smaller camera.

Mike,

That's really a cool story! If you can remember what did they purchase? Also it kinda sounds like a very subtle bribe to me.

Looks like it worked to. Were they repeat customers? Now about that car, a Twin Turbo? They are sweet cars. Maybe not a good choice for haulin' around a bunch of knives though.

John, I have the shot on disk somewhere in this mess in front of me, I'll see if I can dig it up. I hope to get a scanner this week, so maybe I'll have something better by then.

The Mavica's are fun. The big plus is that they save directly to floppy. I have the MVC-FD81, which is what I've used for the pictures I've posted. If you take the time to set up some indirect lighting, you can get excellent pictures.

Thanks for the help on the digital camera. I am probably going to get the Mavica because I am computer "illiterate"

, but if I was to get one of the regular ones (non floppy disc) I have been thinking about the PDC 3000. I really like how it looks, and even though it cost twice as much as the Mavica I think it might be worth it.

John,

Before you jump on a camera, check out the best site on the web for reviews, info, etc.

It has been a great help to me. I've owned a used Ricoh RDC-2 for almost 2 years now. With a 40Mb card, it can hold literally hundreds of pictures... pix are great too.

Check your needs... you may not need the latest mega-pixel hotrod and can save yourself a lot of cash (to buy more knives with

!).

Good luck on your search.
