Has anyone else noticed that the new format/location for the forums is agonizingly slow? I like the functionality of the new format, but each topic seems to take hours to load compared to the way things were before. No, it's not my connection. We're on a T1 and utilization is less that 8% right now. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem?

Hey, imagine how slow it'd be if you were using a 56K modem on phone lines that are around 30-40 years old!!! That's what I get to deal with and it really sucks

It's very slow, like being back in the caveman days of the internet. Everytime I pust a button, I have to wait about 60 seconds for the command to go though. I have a cable connection that I pay a lot of money for, and I am use to moving around fast on the internet. So, I will not have time for this forum, if they do not get the speed up on it. Thanks, JohnR7 www.Balisong.com

JohnR7, That is my thinking also. This is taking just too long.

I agree, it takes for-frickin'-ever. And I rarely have access to this board anyway because my dad has parental settings on me and this site is blocked for some odd reason. he will be removing the setting shortly

Jeez! I thought it was me!

Often wonder if this forum is even up and running. Takes forever to post, read, search for anything.

But you think that sux, just wait until you lose your password. They'll claim they don't have you registered, but if you try to register under a new name they tell you that your email addy is already registered under another name. And DON'T make any typos on your addy for your new registration! They'll send the password to the mis-typed addy and then tell you that "the name is already in use."

Sux . . . No reason for all the security, 'cept maybe paranoia and obsessive control freakdom.

Try HotBoards. No registration whatever. You can post as anyone.

Yeah,I was on yesterday checking stuff in here and in the sword forum. It was taking forever with my 33.6.
I just hopped on and found it was back to the version I had gotten used to,and found that several responses in a sword discussion are missing that were added after the upgrade.
Just a clue..."newer" doesn't always mean "better"

Redfield,
Perhaps the reason for "All the security" is to keep people from posting as anyone. What would it be like if you were trying to get a value on a knife and some 13 year old was posing as Gollnick? Some of the things we talk about equates to a lot of money for some folks.

If I'm reading your intent wrong, ooops.

Slower isn't the only problem. I had updated my bookmarks and every time I went to the bookmark, I got the message that bladeforums was being downgraded and to be patient. SO I sat around for hours waiting for it to come back, only to find that the bookmark on my laptop worked but not the one on my desktop. They really should have given us a link on the page that tells people the site is down.

I don't know about you, but I take any info I get online with a huge grain of salt -- not good for the low sodium diet. Would never make a $$$ decision based on one source through the internet.

I'm reminded of the cartoon where the pooch is posting on a forum and the caption is: "On the internet, no one knows you're a dog."

Arf, arf . . .

I enjoy the female figure as much as the next person. But a lot of the stuff they have on the internet is sickening to me. I have tried every now and then to set up some blocking software to keep that junk from coming up on my screen, but I can not find anything that seems to works.

You could have your dad list this site in the software as a approved site, so you can get in. Unless he only wants you to go to the web sites where they only talk about knitting or something like that

Personally, I am just GLAD that this forum is here! Count your blessings fellers!

THANKS SPARK!

Yes we all should be grateful. Think about it, we have a place to discus something that is illegal in some states and in many places around the world. Certainly most local groups like school boards, or the PTA and the like would have fits if they knew that people were carrying Balis in the area.

Even when the forums were slow, it was nice to know that if I had the patients I could still read some posts. But what if it were closed? There was a topic over in the community section about possible legal ramifications from under age children getting help acquiring knifes from forum members. I guess it is conceivable that legislation could be passed that shuts down sites that deal with/in "illegal weapons". Clay's site wouldn't be a place for us to go to discus Balis because his would probably be shut down first.

Just some mundane ramblings from a guy who hasn't finished his coffee yet.

P.S.

Just to stay on topic, I have an open 42 just to the left of my keyboard on top of my application for associate membership to the Fraternal Order of Police.
