Slowly going insane

As I sit here in northwest Washington state wrapping up a project my new to me unseen EDC2 sits comphy at home. Next to it sit two also unseen Duramax sheaths. Worse than a pre-order because they are at home waiting for me. Calling, calling my name. One more week until I can return home and leave this cold, wet, bitter place. One more week which puts me here right at three months(minus a week home for Thanksgiving and Christmas each). Why people live here is a mystery to me. Lorien cannot be far from me. Well far as a Texan figures distance anyway:) Why do you live in such a place? Cold, damp, cloudy, no sun. It is however beautiful. On days you can see more than 100 feet. Sorry I'm rambling just ready to go home. I need a new job. Actually that's BS I love my job I'm just ready for this project to wrap up, too long in one place. And I want to go home and play with my new toys, I mean tools.

It is definitely a state of mind...I grew up near enough to the gulf coast to look forward to the 50 deg cloudy days that seemed to only occur a few times a year. Up here, I have only a few days of gulf coast weather to contend with per year. Give or take, of course.

Being on the road, however, is a drag, especially when you have new toys at home. Have some dungeness, yearling Pacific oysters, and maybe an IPA or two, and suffer through, it's not so bad!

Edit to add - in my head, it read more like Conrad...

A few reasons I love the PNW so much, and will likely never leave.

Choosing between the two, I'd go with Heart of Darkness, but it's been a long time since reading either. A moving painting of a picture with words, capturing a both the vivid description of the setting and the narrator's perspective / state of mind. Subjectively objective or the other way around, ha.

Please allow me to chime in.

Going SLOWLY insane is MUCH MUCH better than going cold Turkey on the reality you've been presented with.

That being said, I hope you get to your new fun things safely and speedily.

Lynden. Today is sunny. Last couple of days have been foggy. At least it quit raining for a while. I've spent a lot of time in this part of the country but the rain gets me down. Mostly I'm just complaining.

!!!

You're like 20 minutes from me. :)

That's Mt. Baker in the pic above.

as the raven flies, that's very close. But it's weird here in the PNW- we refer to this weirdness as 'micro climates'
