I purchased one of these a few weeks back just to check it out. I’ve heard of its legendary reputation and found one for a good (great?) price. Holy smokes is that action great. With almost zero lock-stick and hydraulic smoothness, it reminded me of a CRK Inkosi. Well, at least it did.

I gave it a thorough sharpening and then disassembled, cleaned, and relubricated it. Polished the washers ever so slightly. I used 10-wt Nano Oil on the pivot and Knife Pivot Lube Heavy on the detent track.

The open/close action is like silk now but I’m experiencing some significantly gritty lock-stick. I know the lock faces on these are carbidized. Perhaps mine has worn off? I tried running a pencil over the lock face which may have helped some, but not much. I also didn’t go at it too heavily. I didn’t put any on the blade tang.

Any suggestions? I have to think that others have run into this before. Thanks in advance.

You may have used too much lube. Lube on the lockbar and tang will cause this. If you put too much on... It will drip all over.

Would recommend cleaning it with acetone a few times so it desolves the lube and apply with way less.

I usually go the “less is more” route with lubrication but it’s totally possible. I might try just a dab or two of CRK Fluorinated Grease and see how it goes. That stuff likes to stay in place.

Actually not carbidized, but carburized (heat treated, like the lock bar of a Seb 21). I'd say let it break in and/or clean all the lube off the lock faces.
