Well... I've been carrying and using this folder for a good couple of months now... in winter, spring and now in summer-like weather. Mountains, fields and forests. Some of my thought below...

BTW, I've got two now, one at home and another one as 'backup EDC' in my wooden cabin (so I'm never without fine knife when I go there Friday afternoon straight from the office).

You can read (and hopefully enjoy) my full review here

Great review; I love the Slysz Bowie, but haven't been able to test it, so I'm glad to see that it can hold up under medium-and-slightly-harder-use as well as I hoped it would. It's my current favorite from Spyderco, and tied with the ZT 0562CF as my favorite overall knife for under 300$.

By mistake I put it yesterday in Techno thread... should be here of course :)

Still in my pocket when I'm in the field...

I had the Slysz Bowie for a while and used it regularly but ended up selling it to fund another knife. Thought it was great. If I still had it, I'd have it reprofiled. Didn't, "slice" as I would have liked. Looking at a Farid K2 to replace it.

Wow, really? Mine is a slicer deluxe, it's about .015" behind the edge grind. It's just a touch thicker than my Krein regrinds. That's the first I've ever heard anyone complain about its lack of slicy-ness.

Lack of slicey-ness? That's news to me too.

I think the K2 will be less slicey.

The blade geometry of the K2 and the aggressive cutting nature of 10v would surprise you.

I carry mine daily and it's a better cutter than some thinner blades I have.

I actually decided on the K2 over the Slysz bowie because of one small detail... that sharpening notch or whatever you want to call it at the back of the bowie just drives me nuts. I see them as pointless and tend to catch on everything while cutting, YMMV

Haha, the sharpening notch is actually something I really like aesthetically on the Slysz Bowie :). I'm not doubting the K2 being a good cutter it just strikes me as a heavier duty blade. I want one but it's a bit large for what I like to carry. Did I hear talk of a Lil K2 in the works?? I'm all over that! :D:D:D

You did, hopefully it hit's that 3-3.25in blade range and allows for a full grip... and keeps the 10v steel.

Excellent review and pics Piter!!!
I really enjoyed it!
Thanks bro!

I really like the Slysz Bowie but it lacks the heft for me. I do enjoy the aesthetics, this is a very well thought folder in Spyderco lines. I think Spyderco mirrored it and then stonewashed it, the blade was beautiful. shiny yet looks utilitarian. it kicked my Military for a month or two. But my Sebenza 25 kicked it from my pocket. I dunno why, I just enjoy the heft on my Seb25 better.

CTS XHP is an excellent choice for this knife. I also did not know why there are several forumites above said this is not too slicey. I put mine at 30deg inclusive with my sharpmaker, finished it with the medium (brown stone) triangle and I got an impressive cutter.
