I've got a birthday coming up soon, and there's a good chance that I'll be treating myself to a bday Seb now that I've been bitten by the bug. I've never gotten to handle either of these specific models, but they both are really appealing to me for different reasons. With the Starbenza, you get full Ti with an awesome looking and grippy design. With the CF, it would be super light and looks really classy. Thoughts?

I have had the pleasure of owning both, only in the large version. Yet I also have handled a few small CF's as well. Probably my fav is the small insingo CF. The Starbenza's have killer grip and look worthy of the price tag they carry. If you already have a regular seb though I would vote for the CF one next. The carbon fiber makes the knife rediculously light and yet still super strong. It does have a classy and rich look also that fits well in the gentleman's knife category. You really could not go wrong with either but the CF will be more distinct that the one you already own due to the weight difference.

I have a Sm Micarta Insingo now, so I have full Ti, but it has a different feel due to the inlays. That's kind of what led me to these two models -they have the standard drop point blade, and they would both feel different in hand than what I currently own.

Starbenza hands down

That's my vote. Never held either, but I love the Starbenza look and I (might be the only person on this forum) that just really dislikes the look of CF. ;)

The CF is just SO light. Especially for EDC, you get a great blade, CRK quality, and the weight disappears.

Starbenza!! Not that I've owned either. But that's what I would do! And you just missed the sale on them too.

If it will be a user go with the starbenza. They have awesome grip. If its a gentlemans knife or a show knife then get the cf.

Got to get the starbenza, they are great knives! Amazing grip and they look nice too:thumbup: I do like carbon fiber, but for a knife you will use I would go for the star first hands down.

I'll say starbenza, I got both and even though the cf is really light the starbenza is not heavy by any means. It just feels tougher not to mention the grip. Just based on personal experience and preference.

Starbenza. The way I see it is when you buy a carbon fiber seb your losing a side of titanium. You can always get an after market cf scale.

I agree! The CF version is stupid light. Actually even though I really dislike the made stamp, I had second thoughts selling my CF 21 because it was so light it was unbelievable that it was a sebenza. There is some weird magic about the heft of the sebenza, I've held similar knives made of Ti of the same size and there is just something that makes the sebenza heavier and just right. Idk. It really is a just a nice hunk of Ti.

That said, if you don't really like the made stamp (it really is smaller on the starbenzas) or mind the weight, get a starbenza. It will be much much more similar to your Large though than the CF will be, CF really makes the knife something else.

I have a few sebenzas, and still wish I had a cf one because its so much lighter (swapping between my other sebenzas is well...not really any different). But that stamp...I'll just have to get an aftermarket scale. (:
