So I finally took the plunge and bought a nice used small sebenza 21 after years of comptemplating. The fit and finish is very nice and I look forward to using it in an EDC role. Couple questions though, as I am new to this brand. First off, the clip is great, but is it commonplace that with say khaki pants the clip is not very secure? Meaning the tension is somewhat lacking as only mild pulling will get the knife out of the pocket. (My Spydercos and benchmades have better retention it seems). And I thought I read about this, but I forget, anyway does anyone's lanyard pin rattle a little? It is in there good, but there is some rattle when the knife is shaken. Seems odd for such a high dollar precision knife.

Not sure if the clip tension problem would be the clip or just maybe the overall feel in your pocket. I have noticed with my sebenza that it goes in and out of the pocket easier than a knife that has some grippy scales that add some friction to the fabric. I read a thread on here a few days ago about clip tension and if there is too much it can actually put excess pressure on the lock bar making the knife more difficult to open. Here is that thread, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ght-pocket-clip-tight-lock-bar?highlight=clip

On the lanyard pin. Do you have a lanyard on it or just the pin in? On mine it seems that the pin is designed to be able to rotate with the lanyard so a little play would be normal. If no lanyard on the pin I suppose it may rattle a bit if shaken.

I agree. Just take an allen wrench and remove the clip. Then take some pliers and carefully grip the clip where it mates with the scale. Now bend the other end (carefully) in the direction desired (more or less bend, more in your case). Then reattach the clip and it should have more or less tension (more in your case), and it should work better.

Yes the lanyard pin rattles. But you're never going to hear it rattling while it's in your pocket or using it. And I would just adjust the clip to your liking. Maybe the previous owner tweaked. Now put it to some use! :)

I bent the clip and now it's perfect. I also gave it a hair shaving edge on my sharp maker and now it is ready for some slicin'! Thanks guys. (I prolly would have taken the lanyard off anyway so I can live with the rattle).

My lanyard pin does not rattle, again I have upgraded lanyard from chris reeve, it is thicker.

I put a small drop of purple locktite on the lanyard pin the last time I had it apart for cleaning. It doesn't move anymore.
