About to send a small 21 micarta tanto bladed beauty in for a spa day. Considering adding a double lug.

Opinions? Just curious if I oughta do it....

I personally prefer the single lug, especially on the 21's where it is the default. It's a nod to the pure simplicity of the knife. On the 25, I don't mind the double lugs, as it seems to compliment the larger, taller pivot screws on both sides of the knife.

If you are curious about trying it, you might as well. It is an inexpensive way to try a double-lug Sebenza, and since it is a desirable feature, it will only help resale value.

If symmetry is your goal , go for it. If usefulness is what you are after, I would skip it. The need to use the lockside stud is very little, and it is rather hard to open on the small. I have completely reversed my opinion on double lugs. At 1st I would send all my knives in if they didn't have double lugs. Now I prefer a nice simple single lug better.

Unless you have a very specific reason that requires double lugs, stick to the single lug design.

CRK does a great job at placing the lugs where it has a very small chance of interfering with any cutting tasks, or just getting in the way in general, but it has happened to me a few times. Less is more when it comes to anything on the blade...

It depends.... do you ever feel the need to open the knife left handed? (That is if your knife is currently right handed).
If so you should do it. I prefer my knives to early work with either hand and use the lock side lug on my Inkosi and would get my Sebenzas changed out if I was going to carry it. I am down from three Sebenza to one and its an Annual that I don't expect to carry. If I was going to carry it I would convert it.

The double lug on my 25 is kind of worthless. When I try to open it left handed, it's hard to keep my fat thumb from pressing on the lock bar. It looks good though.:)

It's more personal preference more than anything else. Being left handed, I prefer double lugs. I do open my CRK's with both hands. Also, I'll buy a used CRK with double lugs way before one with a single lug.

+1 for me. I'm right handed, but I do open them with both hands. Double lugs are not a deal-breaker for me, but I prefer them for many of the reasons mentioned.

I sent my Insingo in for a blast and new hardwear and requested double silver lugs to be put on. Mainly because I've never owned a 21 or Insingo with double lugs!

I prefer the double lugs for when I want/need to open with my off hand. I am sending a couple in to get the double lugs installed.

I went double lug just because it seems more comfortable to me when I'm able to use both my thumb and index finger to open the knife. I don't know why, it just felt "right." do what feels natural, and just roll with it.

I MUCH prefer single lugs (on a CRK not named Umnumzaan:D). If I wanted it left handed, I'd buy it that way. Particularly on the small, where I do occasionally pinch the blade where the lug is - works great on a single-lug, uncomfortable on a double.

I double lug all of my CRK knives when I send them in if they don't have it already. I have hurt my dominant hand (right) a couple of times and not having a thumb lug on the left side made it more awkward to try to open.
