Small 21 vs Small Regular w/Swedge

Wife said I can get my first Sebenza for Valentines day so off I went to find the one I want. Sadly I can't hold them and only look at pictures online........sooo

Any pros and cons between the Small 21 vs the Small Regular w/Swedge? I see the cosmetic differences with the handles. I like the ridges of the regular for grip but then the 21 has that extra little curve for your fingers before the blade.

Also any pros and cons with a sharpened swedge? I know it is suppose to help with stabbing but really don't plan on stabbing anything

You're correct -- this is an age old question. I own both regular and classic/classic21 models. There are four points I would make:

1) I've have never met someone that disliked either model, just incremental levels of preference of one over the other. As a result, I don't believe most people can go wrong with either. Within a year, many people feel like they need one of each anyway .

2) If you're the type that agonizes over optimizing (read "picky", "perfectionist", etc.), you owe it to yourself to travel to a place and handle each.

3) Personally, I view the handle ridges on the regular as solely a cosmetic benefit -- I do not notice a grip improvement.

4) The real tradeoff is blade vs. handle. For me, I prefer the regular for its blade shape, whiich has slightly more belly, and a little more metal towards the tip. I prefer the classic for its handle, which is significantly more comfortable to me than the regular.

As with anything you buy and use, more often not, WHATEVER it is, you'll wish you'd got the bigger one WAY sooner or more often than you'd wish you bought a smaller one.

How much bigger is the regular over the 21? I thought they were about the same size.

I'm sorry. I though the title of the thread was small 21 versus regular 21. Now that I see what you're asking, I honestly really have no idea. I'd suggest visiting a place that has both in stock so you can handle them both, though it's gonna be hard to find that place.
