Hello all. Im a Sebenza owner of 1 year here. Ive always wonderd wether or not the two sizes use some or all of the same parts such as screws, bushings/bronze washers, pocket clip, backspacer?

And also. I am interested in a large classic with inlay. Is there any specific reason (besides aesthetics) that the special editions and inlay models are polished beautifully exept for the lockbar and pocket clip?

thanks in advance,
Jeff K.

I know the bushings are tuned knife to knife so they are not interchangeable. I think the screw are interchangeable but I could be wrong. Washers are not, some say pocket clip isn't either.

Don't know about the polishing on the back side, you could always do it yourself, carefully.

I think the washers and the pocket clips are interchangeable.I do think they have changed their policy recently because of complaints that the owners have problems after reassembly, but I think this is mostly the way it is reassembled improperly.I lost my washers and CRK sent me pair while back.I also bought another pocket clip and they all fit fine!

It seems simple just screwing a Sebenza back together, but if you "wing it" it is very likely the Sebenza won't open and close nicely. You really need to follow the directions on the CR website. It absolutely does make a big difference. If you follow the directions your Sebenza will open and close like it did when it was new from the factory.

Thanks to CR's fine machining and QC, I was able to switch the unique graphic side plate on my large classic Sebenza, with a new side plate without the decoration. It still opens and closes beautifully, just it came from the factory. Now it is a plain large classic with a basket weave damascus blade (and dual silver thumb studs and silver back spacer).

This basket weave damascius, unique graphic classic Sebenza was a special from TNK. The lock side was not polished. This let me change the other side and have come out with what looks like a standard classic Sebenza but with a damascus blade. The nice thing is, if I want it back the way it was it's easy switch slide plates again.

Not sure if I had metioned this before but I was able to purchase a small classic sebbie(inlaid handles) without the blade and from someone else a Thomas damascus blade only(guy had two) and they mated together beautifully ! Both were purchase from forumites in this forum and my thanks to them !!;)

A machine can't do it as it's not a flat surface like the other parts of the knife

Actually, the handles are polished by hand (as shown on the CRK DVD). Yet, I think it would still be kind of hard to polish the lockbar properly.

Something to keep in mind-polished surfaces on the lockbar side, make the knife "more slippery". I`ve recently "polished" the handle of my plain Classic, and it made quite a difference in getting it out of the pocket (clipped to the front pocket). I found that it came out a bit too easy-compared to what it was before..... .

let me re-phrase. What I am really wondering is if the large model uses the same size parts as the small model (such as screws/bolts, backspacer, clip, pin-stop.) It is hard to tell from pictures.

thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Just looking at a large classic Sebenza and small classic Sebenza side by side, it looks like the only parts that are interchangable would be the pocket clip and pocket clip screw.

And, doing a side by side between a large starndad Sebenza and small standard Sebena, it also looks like the pocket clip and pocket clip screw are the only interchanbable parts.
