Hi, forumates.
Here's some small wildlife shots as usual and first kill of this winter.

This one still survives, seeking warmth and taking sun bath.

A varied tit doesn't fear humans much. This guy has a sunflower seed which I feed
him regularly. Note those great talons compared to their body.
This spice is most adopted to the life of woodland and can grab small branch
with amazing strength, stop on vertical tree bark with these talons easily.

First squirrel of this winter. Caught with rat trap, bait was sunflower seed.

Thanks for looking.

it weighs about 0.8 lbs. not sure how much of it is edible.
I personally prefer liver to meat in general.

do squirrels have much meat in them?

Squirrels are a common food source in many parts of the US. Where I live there are regulated seasons and daily limits (6). The meat is fairly dense and they are exceptionally easy to process. I used to be able to skin/clean a squirrel in under a minute.

Good to eat.. Since both are rodents, the pretty much taste the same as rabbits. Cleaning a squirrel is a great way to use a knife.
