CRKers,

There are the other threads dedicated to posting pics, to posting your "inbounds", and even one dedicated to posting your Regs. However, every now and again a particular CRK is worthy of its own thread. This of course is subject to personal opinion, and in my opinion this particular Reg is deemed "thread-worthy."

As you know, the Reg is one of the favorites amongst the CRK group and continues to impress and inspire. It is quite timeless in its appeal and beauty. Sounds silly to talk about a knife that way, but I do believe it is truly industrial artwork.

Back in 1996 Chris created this beauty in ATS-34 steel. Although it has been through the spa a couple of times and as a result has lost some of the definition on the spine ridges and the CRK logo, it has retained all of the original hardware--including two SMALL solid washers. The only thing missing is the original "flat" style clip. I queried CRK about why it was outfitted with two small washers and asked if that was a practice used for a time back in the 90's. She said they did not keep records back then of those small and delicious little CRK intricacies we all love to pore over.

At any rate, this is one of my favorite CRK models of all time--the small Reg:

Thank you for posting this. It seems that lately I am learning something new about CRK almost every day; I had no idea that they used ATS-34 in these early models, which makes me wonder if they ever made knives with 154CM, which is the American Version of this steel. The blade looks like it has a lot of life left in it, I wonder how close the edge is to the higher end of the bevel, I hope I'm saying this right; I'm not an expert, more like a total neophyte.
I can also see there is no chamfer around the handles, and the screws are solid on the back end, very vintage looking, I love the looks of it. I totally agree, this one is a keeper for sure. Congratulations on the rare blade.
Oh, and I hope you find an original clip for it.

That's a keeper!

I agree sir!

Learning the small nuances on CRK offerings is one of my favorite parts of being a member on this forum. It's fascinating to see all the little changes, updates, and interesting things CRK thinks up.

The blade has a ton of life left in it--the edge is beautiful. It looks like this one has been carried way more than it has been used.

On the blade steel--CRK has never used 154CM. Here is a link to a great thread done by the outstanding member Nyefmaker. It has all kinds of good information:

That's one of my favorite things too, thanks for the link; it is the next thing I will read:)

Beautiful! I still need to get a Regular - maybe one of these days.....

And I agree, sometimes new acquisitions are worthy of their own thread, this being one of them.

In my opinion, there are two "must have" CRK's: a small plain Jane Regular and a small plain Jane Insingo--my two all-time favorite CRK's (although, I have nevered handled an Umfaan or an Inkosi so the opinion could change someday:))

Could not agree more.
