Hello guys,

i recently bought a small regular in BG42 steel from a member on here wich i'm still waiting to get.
the knife had no papers nor box so the previous owner sent it to CRk for certification.
i've seen pics of the birth certificate card and now it comes with this year's date!
i've been told by the seller that the scales don't have any sort of markings.
so, does anyone know the year it was born?
also, do these come with a marking on the blade regarding the steel?
i'm a CRk user but never had a small regular and never tried BG42 so that's why i'm asking.
let me know if you have info on this kind of model and don't be shy of posting pics if you own one like it :)
i can't wait to get my hands on it :D

Thanks

I haven't seen handles that weren't marked, but of course... Inside the front Ti scale should be a year marking indicating when the slab was produced. Usually like A03 or B04. Letter indicating which quarter of that years batch then the year. Blades that used S30v will have an S marked on them. Hope this helps.

so it's not normal not having birthday marks?
all my other crks had them!
i know that regarding s30v blades but does it also have a marking when it's bg42?

I have a large Sebenza Regular BG-42 with card and the scales are not marked. The card is dated 1996. I do believe that CRK did not mark the scales until later. If the blade does not have a mark they it is BG-42. And when they reissue a card it is dated with the date they did the spa treatment. These are my best suggestions but I am sure someone with more knowlege will help you out. I wish I could post pics for you but I am looking for one of those. Great knife.

I have an early 1997 small Regular with BG42 that does have the date on the scale.
Some sold in 1997 did, and some didn't. The unmarked ones sold in 1997 probably had scales that were made in 1996.
Yours is more than likely a 1996 or 1997.
As others have said, the BG42 blades are unmarked.

Here's my Small BG42 Regular

Scales are stamped B98, so sometimes they would sit for a while before being assembled, at with point they wrote out a BDay card. This is one of my new beauties.

Sent my large BG42 off to Birdhunter, traded for a small numbered regular in polished ATS34 (thanks Bill).

so i FINALLY got it.

the knife is nice but, because i always take the pocket clip off, i noticed something i never seen before.
it has a "depression" under the clip!

Sweet Reg sir.
I looked at my small Reg from 02' and it does not have that cutout under the clip--I have never seen that before.
Please post pics of the front side--we want more eye candy.

Ahhhh. . . Sweet Reg goodness. She is a looker.

You should email the pics to CRK and see what feedback they can give you on the cutout.

That just looks like a normal clip recess to me man. I don't get the "issue"?

Mantzao--I hope you don't mind, but I used your photo and circled the area in question. . . It took me a minute to orient my eyes to what we were looking at so maybe this will help.

EDIT: Mr. Rat beat me to it!

Those were three different examples on three different Sebenzas so I'm guessing it's something CRK had done on a run of those regulars?
