I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I received an all black Ener-G II a few days ago, it is a beefy, well made, and fast flipping folder. The linerlock is almost a framelock, its one of the thickest liner locks I have ever seen on a production knife.
So JM, did you see the new ones with serrations?![]()
If you have the proper Torx tool, remove the clip and bend it a little. If not, they can be pried up a little. If you do this, make sure you hold your thumb over the clip where it attaches to the scale.
I've done both before, and it's not that hard. Just go easy, and do a little bit at a time.
i really like the ener-g design. especially the larger one. I keep an eye out for a well centered one when the pivot isn't tight. They have the best action when loose (like the ram), but tend to be really off center closed. (the ones i've seen, bought, and sold etc)
Yeah, what the heck is it with Kershaw???Everything they make seems to be off centered and kinda, you know, loose at the pivot when you take a torx bit and totally loosen it up. I just don't get that
Weird, huh?
Well mine is just about dead center and it flips open faster than any other knife I own.
the ram or the ener-g? the Ram is the fastest flipper I've ever owned. The ever-g is close, and flips great from the factory... i just get too needy and want to loosen it up. it's not a flaw, i just want to find one that maybe is flawed so if I loosen the pivot slightly, the blade remains 80% centered so it doesn't rub. both are the hottest production flippers I know of.
no one said totally loosen it up, and no one said "everything". You're just looking for something to snap at. Funny though.
On those two flippers I just like them a little looser, but not so loose that the blade wobbles on lock up (still snug). but if the liner lock is pushing a little too hard on the blade when closed, th blade will often slide off center too much and rub against the liner.
Just a personal preference on those two models. On the RAM, there is no liner lock pushing agains the blade so it's never a problem. The knife can become a virtual gravity knife and be solid as a rock open, closed and always centered.
