Hi,

I picked up a Hapstone R2 and I'm very happy with it. Shout out to 777 Edge for the excellent advice.

I was a little worried that it would be really big compared to my Edge Pro and that's not an issue at all.
Anyway, I want to sharpen a little Microtech and it looks like the stone will rub the blade holder if I set it to 20 degrees. Any suggestions on how do deal with smaller blades?

Thanks,
Dave

There are a few clamp options.

First is the fillet clamps, they are full sized and have a thinner tip on them so you should be able to get a better angle.

Or you could go for the smaller clamps which are a bit better for small blades. I use a pair of the straight ones for my smaller knives that I can't sharpen on the full size clamps.
Straight

or angled which would allow you to make a "central" clamp instead of having them off to the side.

Yeah, B Bdtry 's second link has the Hapstone Lite clamps. They might be able to give you a 20 degree or lower angle on a small and narrow blade like that. The fillet clamps (his first link) will also work, but they might be a bit too flexible to securely clamp a blade that small.

That's great to hear.
Gritomatic has been really good to deal with. I thought the digital angle finder was broken due to the ERR message that comes up. Stupid me... I sent an email to Gritomatic and they shipped me a new one. When I told them it was my bad and I'd ship the replacement back they said no worries and to keep it.

Tormek SVM-00 small knife holder - grips the handle so you have total angle control and plenty of blade clearance
