Small Buck Titanium?

A couple of years ago someone gave me a small folding pocket knife made of titanium (I think). The case was textured and had a rainbow effect on it. Blade was maybe 1 1/2 inches, and I believe it was a Buck.

Well, in my carelessness, I have lost the knife. It was the perfect little knife for just opening boxes, mail, and other small tasks. And it weighed next to nothing!!! Easy to stick just about anywhere. But I can't find any thing like it.

Does anyone know what the knife was?? Are there any around anywhere?

Help!

It was titanium. I think they are discontinued now, a post knives wanted
section might do the trick.

DaveH,

Do you know the name of the knife so I can ask specifically for it? Any links anywhere on the 'net for pictures or such?

Thanks!!

I got this info from Joe Houser.

That knife is the model 565 Tiny Titanium, made from 1989 through 1992. We sold about 14,000 of them and they had a MSRP of $26. The blade steel was 425 mod.

I'll never understand why this knife never seemed to catch on. I wish I had picked up a few extras.

Since I own one I can tell you why it never caught on with me:

Relatively difficult to open.

Air dulls the blade steel seems like.

Relatively expensive because at that time you could get a Spyderco Delica for example for close to the same money.

I found it difficult to hold on to.

That is the one, FivePointOhh! If I run across any, I will let others know.

To me, it was not really the best knife, but for a very small and very light knife, it did the job well. I currently have a Kershaw Chive and like it very much, but I would still like to find one of these to replace the one I lost.

Thanks!

DaveH,

Thanks for the link. Info and pictures, but as expected, Discontinued and Unavailable. (I knew the thing was light, but 1/2 an ounce?!?!?!)

I'll keep looking.

You might also want to check eBay from time to time as I have seen them for sale in the auctions....
