As the title says any recommendations for a small bushcraft knife? I say small as my hands aren't huge, but mainly because I like small wee knives. I'm thinking something along the lines of a mini-version of the Ray Mears knife, quality wise, but preferably not as expensive... I want something that will take serious abuse and hold an edge. This will be in addition to probably an Esee-5 Ive had my eye on, as my Mora isn't as young as it used to be...

Thanks! :D

I like the izula 2, the bk14, and the blackjack 155 for a small knife. Or a custom edc from kfu who's prices are reasonable and the handles are comfy as hell

A bunch of guys on here can make you a custom for reasonable prices. JK knives makes an EWOK that is a fav of mine, he has others too. Check out his forum here on BF.

I had considered the Izula II alright. Could you guys link me to the knife makers you mentioned?

If you're talking about a knife like a mini Ray Mears knife, there's always the Condor Bushlore/Mini Bushlore.

Should have mentioned I live in Ireland where its constantly wet so I'd rather not have Carbon Steel unless its coated. Also I could manage to afford something a bit better than that. Thanks though :D

Well, it is coated. But if that's not what you're looking for I understand. :)

Oh sorry it is coated! Hmmm it is the type of thing I was looking for maybe I'll bear it in mind! :D Cheap too which is always good.

BRK Liten Bror. It's an Aurora that went through the dryer on high heat. :D The blade is 3V, incredibly tough, but not coated and not stainless. Still, unless you are a longshoreman, I doubt that it's a big problem and the benefits of 3V for bushcraft are considerable.

I live where it's wet too and I carry an Izula 2 with me. With the coating stripped off the blade even.:D It's my favorite blade.

3V isn't stainless but it is pretty stain resistant compared to other tool steels. I had my Koster uncoated for a year or so and it never even hinted at rusting.

Edit: Another consideration would be the Fallkniven WM-1. It's about the same size as the Izula and comes in stainless.

i would recommend the cold steel srk or outdoorsman lite but although both of those aren't that small that's what i use for small outdoor tasks and it works great (the srk)

When you pick up that ESEE-5, pick up an Izula-II or ESEE-3 to go along with it.

Thanks everyone for taking time out of your day to help me! :D I'm pretty sure I'll now go for the Izula II. The price and the lifetime warranty as well as it being the perfect size for what I want make it near perfect. The Bark river knives are beautiful but somehow I'd be scared to bash on them! :D

I mike my Benchmade activator-1 Small, comfortable, holds up to some punishment, the jimping is nice, and its in D2 which is semi-stainless

Bark River Gunny, Fiddleback Forge Production Recluse (Bark River mfg), ESEE-3.
