Hey everyone

I'm looking for a small EDC fixed blade, and like the look of Busse's and kin. I know they are mainly built/marketed as hard-use knives, but is there anything available under 7"? I looked at the lists of different models that are stickied, and my head spun with all the variations. Anyone have suggestions?

(Apologies for the title - I typed it quickly, forgot to correct in, and now I don't think I can edit it)

Park Ranger & Game Warden come to mind.
Here is my favorite small Busse with my custom David Brown Kydex sheath 114588D1-8523-4DB5-89CD-2F329D31E916.jpeg

My favorites of all time are park ranger and whiskey warden. Both are relatively recent offerings and largely available on the exchange. I have a couple mini mean streets and a rodent 3 I really like too. But the first two are my favorites. I like Busse’s small EDC knives a lot!

There’s quite a few EDC size Busse & Kin.

SAR3 (my favorite)
Active Duty
Meaner Street
Anniversary Mean Street
Game Warden
Swamp Warden
Scrapivore
Rodent 3
Anniversary Mean Street Ergo
Boss Street

Just to name a few, there are others too, as well as variants of some of the above.
The Active Duty and Game Warden are some of the more popular ones.

Check out ads on the exchange. Even if you’re not buying, it will help you learn the different models.

There are many good choices, and all of us will have our favorites. If I could keep only one of my small Busses, without hesitation I would keep the Active Duty.

This is my slightly modified Basic 4 skinny. Cutting edge is just under 3.5".
INFI is more about impact resistance than edge retention, which is why it's more associated with large blades. But the nice thing about thin INFI in a small blade is that it has decent edge retention, and is very easy to maintain by stropping.

Hey Dude, This is an Anniversary Mean Street on the left and a Park Ranger on the right. Both are just over 8 inches over all. If you want a little smaller look for a Game Warden or Mini Mean Street. I don't have those though. Good luck

Wow. 8 replies in 4 hours. I love it. That's super helpful guys! Much appreciated! It gives me a few names to look for in the exchange for sure.

And I'm looking for something 7 inches overall. Something easily carried, kind of as an everyday utility knife.

W wincher , Welcome to BladeForums, and the Busse forum in particular!

An Active Duty (AD) or Boney Active Duty (BAD) is 7 3/4" overall length. The BAD is a thinner version of the AD, and the BAD is hardened at 60-62 Rc vs. the normal 58-60 Rc for INFI. Because of the distal taper and extra thin tip on the BAD, it is not intended for heavy abuse like prying with the tip.

Don't forget the Lil' Smokey

Blade Length: 2-3/4”
Blade Thickness: .093” (3/32”)
Overall Length: 6-1/4”
Blade Finish: “BIG” Finish (Busse Industrial Grade)
Steel: Elmax 58-60Rc

I do plumbing service repair work and I've had my mini mean street on my side ever since I received it. It's small enough that it disappears until I need it then it's like....deploy, slice, resheath...done. Takes about 3 seconds and I can reholster without looking

Rapid and numerous replies? We are a tight, helpful and fanatical group. And most of us possess more Bussekin than any sane man should.
