Hey All,
Got the little Christmas Knife from the 12/10 DOD, man this is a cool little blade, I keep hearing Dr Evil calling Mini Me when I look at it, as it is the perfect companion to the KLVUK. The knife and scabbard are really made well, I am very impressed with it. I mentioned a piggyback style sheath for the KLVUK, well today I made this one up and really digging it, it could double as a small necker if you wanted. I did not make the attachment strap yet, but wanted to post up some pics of it. I like where it is sitting on the bigger sheath, nice and out of the way. Let me know what ya think.

And yes I am aware there is a d-ring missing on the KLVUK, I needed it for another project :)

It's gorgeous, no surprise there. The plan is to be able to piggy back or stand alone? I'm not comprehending how the little one is gonna attach to the big one but you have a much larger more fully functioning brain than I do.

I got one of those beautiful little knifes as well, it's a cute little bugger and I agree very well made. The handle on mine was very well done and oiled up good too.

I spent a little time cleaning up the shiny part of the blade last night and attempting to improve the edge a bit. Great little knife and I agree it would be a nice little neck knife.

Very well done Pugs, I give it 5 stars 5 being the best and 1 being you suck start over. I've never seen a 1 from you, nor even a 4 far as that goes. Although I'm pretty sure Beavers are not fond of you seeing their kin wrapped around your knives and all. Probably don't care for me much now, guilt by association I reckon.

Thank you Bawanna,
Im going to use a snap strap to wrap around the bigger one, I will need to sew on a small flat strip of leather on the bigger one to put the strap through, which calls for me to disassemble it, so not in a huge hurry but I will do it. I love this little blade man im telling ya, and them Beavers are really hating me, Used another piece for a bow grip so I got to be careful when I go outside.

Is it easier to build new rather than dismantle and rebuild? Them KLVUKs are pretty similar, maybe some worthy member would buy that one and you could start from scratch? In your shoes I'd stay away from waterways and any potential beaver habitat. I expect they got wanted posters on you in every dam east of the Mississip, and maybe west too.

Hi, Pugs:

The piggyback arrangement looks great as it is, but I have a thought on a possible alternative for future projects.

If you were to move the small sheath down an inch, and have the main sheath retaining strap up an inch or two, you could line up the two sheaths in parallel without the handle of the karda overlapping the main strap.

I've seen many sheaths that have firestone piggyback pouches in front, and they look good. Of course it would depend on the dimensions of the two knives and the length of the handle of the small one.

That takes nothing away from this look, which is very fine.

I agree and just noticed that even the handles seem to match perfectly. That's gonna be a cool thing.

I really like your leather work!

Can you show us the edge of your sheaths? I'm curious about the type of layering you did and the thickness of your leather selection.

It is pretty easy to take it apart if ya know what your doing, this one im keeping, it is from the first ones made and is kami marked with Buras old mark. Yeah its hard to stay away from the water living in SC, but I got something for em if they come calling:thumbup:

Thank You Dave,
And I see exactly what you are saying, I looked at that when I started and knew it would not work on this one, but there's always a next and Auntie just got some new khuks in.

The sheath is marked with Bura's mark? Huh? Not the KLVUK but the sheath. Now you got me totally cornfused.

I'm pretty much on the hunt for Bura and I turn to jello at the mention of his name. Now this. Clarify for me when you got a moment.

Lol not the sheath, the KLVUK is marked, you were saying about a worthy member buying my old one. When the first batch of KLVUK came out they were Kami marked, I think they were a one or two batch item to see if people liked them and they took off like mad and that was history. The batches later came with no Kami mark. Mine is from the original batch and has Buras old mark that the Kami was using. So this one stays home with me :D

I meant just the sheath thinking most KLVUK's are similar in size, not the knife. But if yours is one of the early ones like that maybe it's not shaped and sized like they are now. I'd never part with that knife being what it is. That is way way cool.

YEEOWZA PUGS, that's some nice leatherwork! I saw one at Bawanna's house that you must have made but I'm just now putting two and two together that you are the artist. Seriously nice work there!

Awesome Pugs! I like that alot! Cant wait to see the snap strap installed. I like where you have it positioned because you can get to both readily with out interfering with each other. Well done!

Thanks man, any friend of Bawanna's is a friend of mine, and you get to go to his house, lucky stiff.

Thanks Bro, ill get going on the strap. I like the position as well, but I do like what David said in the previous post.

Ah! Gotcha. I see what D's sayin. I do like that. The main strap may help retain the Karda as well if it runs just top of the Karda handle.

Well since this thread was a Piggy Back and I too love my little KLFVKK (yes I had to go back and look it up) I decided to add too.
I decided to bond and try to dress mine up a bit just for fun. I don't know how to do leather so I stuck with the wood and the metal. The metal isn't my strong suit either but if was fun to play.

I like the scale look so wanted to just clean up and polish the bright part. Far far from the high polish the kami's get but closer. I also tried for a suitable edge, it wasn't very sharp. I'm not much for sharpening, I used to be but I've apparently lost my mo jo when it comes to edges. It's better but I have a ways to go.

I cleaned up with emory cloth, and fine sand paper and finally a polish wheel on my dremel (snowed here today, can't get to the bench polisher in the shop). It turned out respectable if not a terrific photo.

Then with time left to play around, day off due to snow, I figured I'd checker the butt of the thing, that turned out quite nice. Kind of dressed it up.

I'm thinking of wrapping a little copper wire around the handle where the grooves are cut but I don't want to over do, will ponder that a bit more.

Like Pugs I really dig this little knife. I suspect I'm gonna have to beg him to make me a cute little sheath for mine like he done. I don't need the piggy back attachment, my bushcrafting days are done but that little sheath is so gosh darn cute, it's a must have item.

great work bawanna, i really hope more kages are made kvluk style, i really really want one !

Very nice job Bawanna! Love the checkering! These are some really cool knives! Im glad we got in on the first run of them and pug's sheath is as good as it gets. Once we get some time to tinker with these we need to start a thread on them and put them all together in one place!

Great pix and post, thank you for sharing
