Small classic or regular?

I have done a search, but didn't get much info specifically on the small. Which one do you think is more comfortable in the hand? Looks like the regular would let you grip a little more of the handle, but the classic might be more ergonomic. What are your thoughts? Does the cut for the lock bar ever get noticed when you are using the knife? On some other frame locks, I find this irritating, but I haven't handled either of the small Sebenza's. Thanks.

classic feels better to me, but of course opinions are like feet- everybody has them.

we have had this thread alot and it comes down to the fact that they are both sebenzas, both are great; so it comes down to which ever you like the look of best. :D

Hi Richard, Let me know which style you choose and how you like it. I am a recent Sebenza Convert myself, (had my Large Classic about a month) and I too am pondering which of the small Sebbies to get! I don't think you can make a wrong choice if it says CRK on it! Enjoy whichever you choose! :)

I own a regular small Sebbie and have fondled a couple of small classics. I'll concede the classic's handle design might be a little more ergonomically pleasing but not by a wide margin. However, I'm of the opinion that the series of grooves cut around the thumb hole provide greater purchase when using the regular small Sebbie. I also prefer the blade geometry of the regular Sebbie's design.

With regard to the small Sebenza, I personally prefer the classic model. They're both great, however; ideally you would get at least one of each!

Hi Richard,

This is my first post to the forum. I've been reading them for a while now. I'm glad you asked the question! I've been wondering the same thing. I'm hoping to get a small sebenza and I was eyeing the regular because of the blade shape. I've seen some modifications on the forum where some people remove some of the groves around the thumb hole to make a regular more like the classic. I'm not sure of the details of who does this.

Let me know which one you choose and why!

I bought the small regular 'cause I liked the blade shape. I reckon that the hand feel was improved by the addition of wooden onserts (like inserts except they only went on top) that even covered up the frame lock.

I had a a small classic for a little while but I just recently traded it for a large regular. I prefer the blade style and the handle of the regular series. Although I have short fingers, I prefer the large over the small sebbie. I found that the small did not fill my hand when using it. It was a bit akward to control in my hand when using it. ( I beat the crap out of my folders at work).

As for the specifics of small classic to small regular might I suggest you trying to fondle both styles. It is kind of like buying shoes. Make the decision for yourself.

I have wanted a large regular sebenza for the last ten years and now I am very happy that I finally have one.

my "standard reply" is always Large Classic. does my vote count?

I didnt know we had the option to "upsize" :D

The regular seems a bit more compact in the closed position, and the blade is a perfect matrix of straight, point and recurve. The small regular is in my opinion, the greatest knife ever created.

Yep, my thoughts, exactly. I like the classic blade better, as well as the handle. Until you have tried both, it's a toss up as to which you will prefer to use.
