Hello guys,

I have owned in the past a Small Classic, sold it because I had my Strider SnG, but my SnG is not anymore a good EDC knife, because it is too big for my purpouse. Im thinking on getting now again some used one, or a brand new Sebenza 21. I consider that the sebbie has a serious defect in the clip construction, because 1 single screw make the clip being able to develop "clip play side to side, scratching the lockbar. Does it happened only to me, or more people can see clip play in their sebbies? Im in love again with the Sebenza :D but I dont like the clip having play.

Thanks!

there's a pocket the clip locks into so if properly installed, does not slip side to side.

Hello Dave,

well, mine had that deffect then, the clip had side to side play, because the hole for the clip wasnt enough "tight" for the clip.

12 Sebs here so far... no clip problems at all. Some of them have been EDC'd for a couple of years now, so they've gotten constant use. We've had no problems at all with them.

Have 6 Sebs, never had a problem with the clip.
I think it is a rare problem.
In any case CRK will make it right.

Mine has the same problem right now. Not worth sending it in for by itself, in my opinion. But ,when I get around to sending mine in for some other issues(recent thread), I'm gonna have them look into it.

No "play" on my large regular's clip. However, its retention isn't very strong/tight. I assume it should be tighter because I've heard some claim that their clips are so tight they somewhat act as lockbar stops. But I like mine the way it is becuase it is easy to slide in and out of the pocket, but not so easy that I fear losing it.

The "clip play" story is REALLY hard to believe... owned 10-12 sebs, EDC'd ONE for 5+ years, EDC'd another for 3...absolurely zero "clip play." The inherent design of the "pocket" which the clip SNAPS into just does not allow it. The tolerances are incredible. I'm certainly not "calling you out" but my experience says that CRK's clips are the unquestionably best in the biz, and the story seems to be speculating a possibility and putting it into personal experience.

I actually snagged my clip so bad that it completely bent it out and to the side, but did not move in the pocket... I bent it back for a while before replacing it altogether.

I'd put Strider's clips #2 overall...GREAT clips!

The clip doesnt show unless you try to "force it" a bit by moving to side to side, but atleast on my sebbie and other people's sebbie was there.

You'd be "calling me out" as well, as mine does the very same thing. Eventhough I've only had 4 Sebs, only one has been without issue(s).I tightened mine two days ago and it has loosened itself again to the point where there is 2mm of side to side movement measured from the end furthest from the screw.
But if you're positive about how "incredible" the tolerances are, I'll bet you a new Seb or Umthing mine has just the issues I've described. Friendly wager, but dead serious.

No play unless the screw is too loose. How do you fix it? Tighten the screw.

The clip fits tightly into the mortise on the back slab on all of my Senenzas. The bolt is just holding the clip in the medial direction. The mortise resists clip rotation. There is absolutely no play at all.

I have also had no problems swapping clips between knives. These are production parts, so the fit should be pretty much the same regardless of combination.

So I would say that there is either a flaw in the mortise on your back slab, a flaw in your clip, foreign material in the mortise... or some human error involved.

One male part and one female part... not rocket science.

You'd be "calling me out" as well, blah, blah , blah,...

There isn't any malice intended in my post, but I don't think it's right to imply the OP(and other posters) isn't being honest about his experience. I consider myself to a pretty loyal CRK fan, eventhough my experiences haven't been as positive as most here. I mean, I've seen a lot of members write off one particular knife company or another for one less than perfect experience. On the other hand, I've stuck with my Seb for 3 years straight as my primary EDC, eventhough this one and two of the other three I've owned have been flawed.

no malice here either! I LOVE the clip on the seb... just hard to believe. Did you guys bend or snag it in some way or is the milled portion of the handle bogged than the inserted part of the clip?

I`ve once experienced a little bit of play, however that`s been due to a slightly lose clip screw-just like somebody else said. :)
