Finally got both blades in the mail, and of course I'm happy as can be. I've been flipping them nonstop and my fingertip is killing me, but I love every second of it. Anyways, I have a small concern with one of the blades. This is just a post to get your opinions on what I should do about this, and perhaps Thomas will shine light in. I will be posting a thread/photoshoot of the two blades with comparison, just for the fun of it. Once I looked over these blades alot, I noticed alot of inconsistency between the two blades. The 0561 came very stiff and would not flick all the way open 75% of the time, but it has broke in and now it's pretty smooth. The 0560 came and was flicking open from the beginning. Neither of the two came -perfectly- centered. The 0560 isn't too noticable, but the 0561 really is. The blade is far to the right and just millimeters from actually touching the liner. Not a big deal because a blade that isn't centered doesn't really bother me, but for a roughly $300 dollar knife I do notice it. The lock up on the two knives are very different. The 0561 came locking up at around...30-40%. The 0560 came locking up around 20-30%. I am very happy about the lock up on both knives, but I figured I would throw it out there.
My problem resides with the 0560. I noticed a small spot on the titanium side which looks as though it was cut, notched, or messed up in some kind of way. It actually looks like the material is missing almost like it had been cut that way. It isn't a huge spot, but you can feel it and see it very well at certain angles. Here is a picture to explain what I'm talking about. At the angle in the picture, you can see the light reflecting so the spot is very visible.
My question is...What would you guys do? I know I have two, and could easily send one of them in for warranty, but I really don't want to. The 0561 is going in my safe to wait for my son to get of age to own it. I'd like to pass down the knowledge of high quality knives on to the next generation. I'm going to be EDCing the 0560 and my CF scales from Peter should be coming in soon. I really don't want to let go of either of these knives for any kind of period of time. What do you guys think? Is it really that serious?
In conclusion, I am super happy about these knives and so thankful to finally have them in my hands. They feel amazing. I'd like to thank Thomas, Rick, and all the others who had a hand in this knife. You guys did your job well and created a real masterpiece. I'm happy to be using one of these and passing one down to my son. Thanks again, guys.
