Finally got both blades in the mail, and of course I'm happy as can be. I've been flipping them nonstop and my fingertip is killing me, but I love every second of it. Anyways, I have a small concern with one of the blades. This is just a post to get your opinions on what I should do about this, and perhaps Thomas will shine light in. I will be posting a thread/photoshoot of the two blades with comparison, just for the fun of it. Once I looked over these blades alot, I noticed alot of inconsistency between the two blades. The 0561 came very stiff and would not flick all the way open 75% of the time, but it has broke in and now it's pretty smooth. The 0560 came and was flicking open from the beginning. Neither of the two came -perfectly- centered. The 0560 isn't too noticable, but the 0561 really is. The blade is far to the right and just millimeters from actually touching the liner. Not a big deal because a blade that isn't centered doesn't really bother me, but for a roughly $300 dollar knife I do notice it. The lock up on the two knives are very different. The 0561 came locking up at around...30-40%. The 0560 came locking up around 20-30%. I am very happy about the lock up on both knives, but I figured I would throw it out there.

My problem resides with the 0560. I noticed a small spot on the titanium side which looks as though it was cut, notched, or messed up in some kind of way. It actually looks like the material is missing almost like it had been cut that way. It isn't a huge spot, but you can feel it and see it very well at certain angles. Here is a picture to explain what I'm talking about. At the angle in the picture, you can see the light reflecting so the spot is very visible.

My question is...What would you guys do? I know I have two, and could easily send one of them in for warranty, but I really don't want to. The 0561 is going in my safe to wait for my son to get of age to own it. I'd like to pass down the knowledge of high quality knives on to the next generation. I'm going to be EDCing the 0560 and my CF scales from Peter should be coming in soon. I really don't want to let go of either of these knives for any kind of period of time. What do you guys think? Is it really that serious?

In conclusion, I am super happy about these knives and so thankful to finally have them in my hands. They feel amazing. I'd like to thank Thomas, Rick, and all the others who had a hand in this knife. You guys did your job well and created a real masterpiece. I'm happy to be using one of these and passing one down to my son. Thanks again, guys.

I would send it in for blade centering, that part would bother me. If I were you I would send it in and be completely satisfied rather being unsettled. If it is going to be in the safe anyway you won't notice it is gone. ZT warranty turnaround is pretty fast.

The "spot", in my opinion is a none event. There is a point when a person can be too picky and I think this is one of those instances. As far as the blade being off center you can either lossen and tighten the pivot and see if it helps (you don't say if you've tried that or not) or send it back in to ZT. It'll either come back close enough to center that you can live with it or it won't. Only you know what might make you happy.

The 0561 is the one with the bad blade centering. I havn't played with the pivot any but I may try and just send it to ZT if it doesn't work. I don't know I really try to avoid sending knives anywhere if I can, but this may be of those times when it is best to do so.

I don't really mind the spot on the 0560 because I don't notice it too much but it does bother me that I've seen blems with less of a cosmetic defect than this. I just don't believe this made it through QC, and maybe it happened at the distributor. Then again...we are talking about titanium. I don't know I'm still looking for input.

Judging by how much everything in the pic is magnified the spot is probably much smaller on the knife than in the pic. Send it in if it bothers you. I think the centering might bother me more.

I got a 561 today from the same site as you did. Mine has 4 dings on the bottom end of the ti scale where the top of the clip is. The dings should have been

caught by QC. They don't bother me too much but a new 56 shouldn't look like a blem.

This is interesting. I think it must be the site we received them from then. Maybe they aren't taking care of the knives and just banging them around. Hm, maybe I should contact then about it. I'm not really bothered by the spot because I'm not picky, but I did want some input on it so thank you guys. Now that everyone is talking about it, the bad centering on my 0561 is starting to bother me. Maybe I will send that one in.

I asked the site we ordered our knives from to open the box and inspect it (561) for flaws and make sure it had good centering, lockup, and flippped easily.

Their response was "that's against our policy". If they had opened the box and checked it out my knife Shouldnt have been shipped. My knife came in a factory sealed box.

The knife was in a bubble envelope.

I think the 4-5 dings were on the 561 before it was shipped.

if the scales dont touch centering doesnt matter and usually you can adjust it with the pivot and the standoffs, that nick is hard to tell how bad it is from the photos but Zero tolerance will replace it for sure, I know because they replaced my 0551 tht came with a scratch on the blade, I say sell it and buy another whent they are more available if it bothers you that much
