This small dagger was made from 1/8" carbon steel (1075) which has been clay hardened and displays a very nice hamon. The hollow ground blade is 3" while the OAL is 7". The handle was built up with tooling leather and then wrapped with leather lace.

You know the old saying "keep it simple". Clean Classic design with craftsmanship and care take when made.
 
That is REALLY interesting. I recall reading an article in Blade last year about differential tempering double-edged blades. After reading the article, I had the impression that it was either very difficult or impossible.

I think the problem that the knifemaker encountered was a stress riser because the centre of the blade was being pulled simultaneously in two opposing directions.
 
I just did differential heat treating on a double edged letter opener. To make matters worse, mine was double chisel ground. Warped like a madman, but i got super lucky and straightened it just fine just out of temper.
