Small discovery...

Several of you may have discovered this already but I noticed something useful this afternoon. Derrick at KSF sent me a Sharpshooter kydex firesteel loop for my Bark River Bravo-1 sheath. It arrived today and as I was attaching it to the sheath I realized that both the Sharpshooter sheath and my RAT sheaths have the same spacing between their eyelets. SOOOOO if you've been wondering how to be able to carry an Army size firesteel with your RC-6 or RC-3, these loops are a convenient and pretty inexpensive way to do so. The only problem with using them on a RAT sheath is that they only come with one Chicago screw (the other being provided by an existing belt loop or Tek Lok). But if you can scrounge up another screw you're in great shape!

Where are the firesteel loops on the website? I can't find them and I like the sound of it. Feel free to email me. Thanks,

Heber

Couldn't find them either, but definitely interested as well.

Great post. I've got an RC3 inbound and will look into this.

knives ship free is the name of the vendor on here.

Interesting.

I have a BRKT Bravo-1 with the standard-issue Sharpshooter Kydex sheath (now replaced with Sharpshooter leather). When I wanted to add a firesteel loop to my RAT RC-4P MB setup, the first thing I thought of was to adapt BRKT's add-on Kydex loop.

Measuring the distance between the eyelets on my Bravo-1 Kydex sheath, however, the number I came up with had me doubting that it'd work with the RAT. That's when I got in touch with Kiah and did this.

Maybe I need to get a new ruler. In any case, the cost of the CustomKydex piece was virtually identical to the BRKT loop, perhaps a few pennies less.

I have a RC4 and definitely would be interested in adding a firesteel loop to the factory sheath for cheap. So, someone who is not as lazy as I, needs to do some research and let me know the best way to accomplish it.:D

I have one on my RC4 as we speak. It works very well. I used two washers and a tec-loc and have not changed the set up for a week. (A week is a long time for me not to change how I want to carry my RC4. There's just so many cool/interesting ways to carry it.)

Kintla that is a nice loop you have there. For those of you who want to try the Sharpshooter loop try Crystal Falls Trading Company. I looked last night and they had some in stock. They are really great folks to deal with. Be sure to tell them how much you love RATs and ask them if they will ever be stocking them :)

They are available in both black and green like the sheath in this pic.

This one is mounted on my Bravo-1 but I plan on getting a couple more for my RC-3 and RC-6

Crredit me only for an unoriginal idea, CustomKydex for the execution.

I priced a BRKT piece at Crystal Falls Trading, too, before going the custom route.

Dale (the-knife-connection) and Derrick (Knives Ship Free) both do a fair amount of BarkieBiz but I don't see the loop on their sites. I'm guessing that most Bravos' Kydex gets replaced with Sharpshooter leather, which includes a loop, rather than a plastic add-on.

Yeah maybe they aren't that popular or perhaps there will be more when the next run of Bravo's comes along. It seems like your custom loop is a good bit longer than the Sharpshooter which is awesome. The thing I like about this one is that since it is not fully folded over and has some 'spring' to it, it should continue to have a strong grip even after the firesteel has been used to the point that its diameter starts to narrow. I guess I'll have to use hell outta my firesteel to try that theory out :)
