A guy offered me a small double bit hatchet today..I havet picked it up because to be honest I dont know a lot about them or the value..I dont have pictures but it has no markings(looks like a norlund maybe?)..About 6" long from bit to bit with about 3" wide cutting edges..Its old, no forced or fake patina(also not one of the new repros)..Weighs maybe 12-14 ounces..Anyone give me a heads up? Thanks..Oh yea, overall shape is very good..Sorry, I know its not much to go on..

Sounds like a good one if so.

Btw...I was disappointed to see this wasn't one of yours :p

Whats a going price on these little double bits?

they generally go for a 'pretty penny'. its hard to say without pics, and you said it has no markings, so that throws a monkey wrench into the equation...
they are very popular, you dont see them that much, but they do come up on 'the bay' from time-time.
i would say get it unless he wants an 'arm and a leg' for it...

I think a decent no-name saddle axe would fetch at least $25 on the bay, more if it included a usable haft. Premium stamped models fetch a lot more.

Nice one I have seen on E bey from $75 to $140 ish, they are pretty sweet little axes. sometimes they just go ape over the things. some of the old Case and Queen Cutlery will zoom even further in price.
