Small EDC fixed blade

I always, always, have some folder on me but recently I've found myself abusing my edc folders doing tasks that require fixed blades. Whether it is cutting through wood or prying or punching holes, I'd be much more comfortable with a fixed blade. Surprisingly I don't have a small/medium sized fixed blade that is comfortable for regular carry. So here are my thoughts. I'd like a blade between 3 and 4.5 inches, probably closer to 3, something I can beat the crap out of without feeling too guilty or hurting the knife/myself, and something that has a comfortable handle that won't be much of a burden in a pocket or clipped to a belt.

Current top choices are:
1. Rat 3
2. Buck Gen 5 in 154cm
3. Boker Plus Jermer

In that order. Any recommendations before I pull the trigger?

I'm drooling over the microtech crosshair. Maybe you will like it but it might be a bit big .

Budget? If you want to spend a bit, I like and recommend the Coye Ridgebacks. Mine is 154cm with od-g10 on black g10 liners.
3.25 inch blade. 6.75 inch overall. Sculpted g10 handles. Comes with a sheath and teklock. Mine was about 180. Oh, it's 5/32 inch thick. You won't hurt the knife or yourself. Bill Coye tests his knives by bashing in refrigerators and car doors. There are some pics on the knifedog forums where he shows repeated holes from when he stabbed the hell out of the refrigerator. No edge damage or chipping.

EDIT: The handle may look small, but with the finger choil, it's really secure and fits like a glove. Also, it's probably 1 inch thick so you have massive purchase.

Found the pics of the Coye Ridgeback in action.

Here is the maker testing the knife. Test medium = side of a fridge.

BUCK Gen5 is a very nice knife indeed and not costly. However, it's not the sort of thing to 'beat he crap' out of being a broad thin skinner blade. I reckon you need something thicker. RAT 3 or Bark River Mini Canadian be more like it. But, no knife should be beaten in my view....

Hopefully not more than $100. What do the Coye Ridgebacks go for? Any idea where I could pick one up, I'm having trouble finding any for sale? Maybe I can find a nicely priced used one . . .

They are not widely known, so finding a used one will probably prove futile. They're about 180 - 220 depending on handle material.

For 100 bucks I'd recommend a Swamp Rat Rodent Solution. Check this thread and pre-order. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=812471

Cheapest price I found on the ESEE 3 shipped (and this is not deal spotting since this guy is a dealer here on BF) http://www.the-knife-connection.com/esee-knives--esee-knives-3-series.html
