I need to get a small fixed blade to edc. I have a shrade ph1 made in usa that I was edc'ing but im afraid to ruin it, seeing as they literally, don't make them like that anymore. was thinking the buck 119 but i think it may be a tiny bit too big. i am open to suggestions however i can not spend more then $100 on it.

Check out Rick and Joe Hargis customs. My current small blade is a Bulldog from Rick. Great knives at an affordable price.

ESEE Izula, or if you have larger hands, Izula II. Becker BK-11 and BK-14 are also good choices, though the BK-11 if definitely not a full four finger grip.

I have always liked ML knives by Matt lesniewski, he makes a great camp and field knife with a 4 1/2 inch 1095 carbon steel blade in 1/8 inch blade stock, and a variety of woods for about 100.00 I hae many of his stuff and you cannot go wrong with this stuff.

Excellent idea to check out the For Sale by Maker section.

was thinking the buck 119 but i think it may be a tiny bit too big.
Agree. Much too large for my daily cutting needs. Check out the Pathfinder and Woodsman. Same style and construction but smaller.

We also had a recent topic on Bird and Trout knives, smaller hunting knives that would also make wonderful daily carry knives.

Good luck deciding.

BHK Tiger Knapp/Small Tiger Knapp/Snapp Knapp gets my vote. I've been carrying the Snapp Knapp recently (the small tiger knapp, 2.5" blade) and love it.

Edit: Here's a link to a short review of mine, and a picture of it in hand for scale (it's a comfortable three finger grip without the sheath):

Take a look at what Bark River has to offer.

City Knife
Essential
Little Creek
PSK
Mini Fox River

Many more to choose from.

Edit: Sorry, I just noticed your price range.

I'll name a few you should look at:

Boker PSK or pocket Bowie
A.G. Russell deer hunter or bird and trout
Buck also has a few models that might work for you.

When I read "small" I thought CRKT Minimalist. But I guess you're looking for something bigger.

You can get some really nice Scandinavian knives in your price range. Not just the inexpensive plastic Mora knives either, but really nicely done traditional knives. Karesuando, Helle, Marttiini, and others.

wow just wanted to say thanks for all the replies and options. what im thinking is i might save a little bit more and maybe try the custom route. really liking ML Knives and Joe Hargis. gonna look at the knifemaker section. although i really dig the bark river bumble bee.....why does there have to be so many choices. lol

Stknives.com

scarblades.com these street for much less than their asking price on the secondary market.

Why get a production knife, when your budget allows for a nice custom??

there are also probably some makers on here that would be able to hook you up right.

good luck.

Wow was just looking at scarblades, that lil hornet looks AWESOME, and the price is nice! Would love to see a video of that little beast in action, may have to make that my first fixed blade, thanks so much for that info.

My mind has been made up, it will be the ESEE IZULA II, or the Benchmade 211 Activator, if i can find them at Fridays ECCK show at a decent price i will get both and then just look for a really nice Benchmade folder. Thanks all for the great recommendations. Friday cant get here fast enough, LOL!
