Im buying a doug ritter mini mk1. Is there any other folder out there that any of you would recommend being that this folder is 4 years old for edc.I like a smaller knife, and made in U.S.A. is somewhat important to me. thanks for time

The Ritter mini Mk1 is a very good knife if it has been taken care of being 4 years old should not matter it should cut and opperate like new

If possible... scope it out before you buy it. If it's been treated well, 4 years is just gettin' broken in good and it should have many more left. That's a good choice for a small EDC, BTW.

Ritter's blade profile is my favorite for general utility work. Nice big belly for slicing and enough of a point to be useful but not so pointy that it's weak.

Hard to beat a mini Griptilian, especially an RSK. What exactly is your reservation about the RSK? Is it that the design is 4 years old or that the specific knife you are considering has been used for 4 years? In that case, make sure it is in good condition and pay less than ratail and you should be fine.

If you want a new knife, you could just buy a new RSK, but if you are looking to spend less than the cost for a new RSK, other good-value knives that are similar are the mini Griptilian 556 which is very similar to, but less expensive than the RSK and the Spyderco Native which has the S30V blade steel, available at Walmart for $40, both made in the US. The Spyderco Delica is also a great knife and good value in that size and there are many others as well.

no I'm mean that the model is 4 years old, buying it new thought. I just didn't know if there is something new coming out that I should what for Newer technology or something. Thanks again for the replies

Big +1 on the Mini-Grip, currently my favorite EDC. Actually, it has been since I got it- gets used daily, sharpens easily and still looks new.

I'm up for my first Mini Grip.

Does anybody have the yellow handled version? I favour this as it's easy to find if dropped but are those scales a lurid canary yellow? I have to buy on-line so the colour is difficult to judge, is it like CASE's yellow handled knives?

Also, should it be thumb stud or hole? I prefer the thumb stud but?
