I have a hard time with daggers. The symmetry required always gives me fits.
Bone was the first choice for the handle on this little feather pattern blade, but in the end it was not stable enough to use.
The materials used in the final version are 1084/15n20, wrought iron, silicon bronze, double dyed box elder with jade green G-10 spacers.
The only thing missing is a silicon bronze finial for the butt cap; it is being made by Jim Grecni using the lost wax process.

Happy to answer any questions, Fred

Wow man that's slick, pattern almost looks like some kind of electric fire

Nice one Fred. The handle treatment is very nice. I think that the burl probably worked better than the Sea Cow would have. -Burton

I like the burl with the pattern in the blade.
The blade looks like flames and the handle looks like clouds of smoke.
Great dagger.

Fred, I am sure glad I asked you to make me a small dagger in your feather pattern! Impatient that I am, I await you finishing it and paying you for it!

I really like it; thanks for letting me give you some input.

This is very beautiful. The entire knife is really amazing. I hope we get to see the pics w/ the bronze cap. :)

I think so also; the bone didn't have enough contrast to it to balance the knife.
I'll find something else to put the bone on. Thanks Burton!

Thanks Mark I always appreciate your comments.

That's quite a beauty and it has great symmetry!
There was a lot of micrometer reading went into it. Even a few thousands can make a huge difference in the final product.
Thanks for posting.

I'm not much into daggers, but this is very nice.
I am pleased it caught your eye. It was a fun build and really challenging to boot. I like variety.

It really pleases me that you like how our project turned out. I am glad that I didn't hurry the knife but let it develop as it went along

Thank you my friend, Fred

Thanks Larry; I am pretty sure the wood came from you; am I correct? I have been saving it for something special. It was a beautiful block of wood to work with. It was absolutely solid inside.

I thought that looked like some of that black and gold stuff I had last year, but wasn't sure. You sure made it go together like it was destined to be that way. I need a better "color wheel" I think....:p

Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is sweet.
Glad you like it. You can't really go wrong with wrought iron.

I sure like that feather pattern. That really has a special appeal. Nice work!
It was an interesting blade to grind; trying to keep it balanced within the pattern. Glad you like it.

I still have the other block, I got at the same time, it is gold and purple or violet. Depends on the light.
