Last year, started a post about looking for a small thin fixed bladed knife for EDC (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/871532-Thin-Fixed-Blade). Well, I found a few options:
SmallFBKnivesSmall.jpg

Left side: CRKT Carson F4, Tim Ridge mini French style knife, modified AG Russell Woodswalker
Right side: Buck Hartsook, Phil Rose Thorn, Blind Horse Knives First Frontier Patch Knife, Kyle Williard

Most of the time, I end up carrying this one though:

Phil Rose Thorn- 154 CM, 2 1/2" blade, 5 1/4" OAL, black linen micarta scales, horizontal kydex sheath

Nice looking blades. If you get the chance. I highly reccommend a Tom Krein Ultimate Caper. Over on USN he has three available last I knew.

That Tom Krein is nice. I prefer a three finger handle (particularly for horizontal carry), but in that size range I have a Bob Dozier Personal:

Very nice Dozier. I want to get one of his Whittler model. Tom apprenticed under Bob. So I love both their work.

I'm in the same boat. I love small fixed blades, but on the other hand I carry rather large folders. I think I must have gotten some circuits crossed somewhere along the line. I'll post a pick of my little ones when I get them all wrangled up.

I figured you guys might be interested in this. I just added Dozier and Phil Rose. (I'd never heard of Phil Rose before, but I can't believe I hadn't added Dozier yet.) Check out Arno Bernard in particular, he makes some pretty affordable small fixed blades that are in a similar category to the knives posted here.

Great list. I saw a nice little Arno Bernard blade in the new AG Russell catalog today.

You have excellent taste in fixed blade EDC's, if I may say so. I'm a big fan of my Hartshook, I wear it on my neck.

If I may humbly suggest the Benchmade Nim Cub, it's a good little knife.

I just picked up this PML Knives Pocket Knife from Paul here on the forums.

3/16" CPM154, 59-60RC, 6" OAL, with 2 1/2" cutting edge

I've only had it a few days, but so far it has superbly handled every task thrown at it.

The accompanying pocket sheath is great, and its also easily carried horizontally on my belt in kydex.

I carry this Swamp Rat with custom leather scales everyday. Its one of my favorite blades for now.

How thin is phil rose ground?

Hi. I have just joined this community and came across this thread. I am also looking for a small fixed blade with sheath. The one that really looked good to me was the Fixed Gumbyahha (hope I spelled that right) by John Fitch that was on page 65 of the June 02 Blade magazine. It also had a clip on the back of the sheath. Does anyone know where I can find one of these blades? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tar

I am a bit enamored with my Dozier K-42 Personal in 154 CM with the wharncliffe/sheepsfoot blade. It is for cutting not personal defense which is why I like the blade style.
