Hey guys im looking for suggestions for a small fixed blade knife to take hiking and camping. The blade should be between 4 to 6 inches in length and no more than 3/16 inches thick. I already have a mora so im not looking for another. And my budget is around $90. Any suggestions would be very helpful thanks :)

I personally wouldn't call a knife with a 4-6 inch blade small. You could check out the Becker tweeners. Bk15 bk16 or bk17. Might also be worth looking at an esee 4 or 5.

I would really look at the ESEE 4, 5, 6. personally. If you want smaller then the ESEE 3. For that price range those are usually the knives that interest me in the fixed blade realm, but there are many other great options. The 5 inch Ka-Bar is a good option as well.

check out some of the great customs that come up on the fixed blade section of the exchange, some are great bargains. some of the best ones I have seen are from hardedgeknives, great prices on on some 3-5 inchers in resin soaked chord wrap on the handle, comes with kydex sheath for around 50.00 too. Mine has a 4 inch blade of 1095, hollow ground, brown kydex. Handy and quite light. another one is NJJ, he has some great knives, and lastly, a little more at about 100.00 is Bradshaw knives.

Thanks guys! i found your responses very helpful :) but now i cant decide between the esee 4 and the bk17. What would you guys say is a better preformer for all around tasks?

What's better at hauling cargo, a Ford or Chevy truck?

Which French fries taste better, Burger King Or McDonalds?

Which color looks nicer, blue or red?

This is my first post in blade forums, so bare with me here, and thanks for having me.

As far as a fixed blade in the specs youre looking for, ive got to recommend Shadowtech's Wolf Bowie. This is hands down my favorite knife! 1095 steel, with a fantastic heat treating, and an equally stunning black finish. My favorite part of this knife are the scales; Very fat, almost over built (but perfect) micarta handles. Their texture, and shape, make this knife MELT into your hand.

When im not carrying the ST bowie, ive got my SOG northwest ranger in its custom small of the back IWB sheath.

I would look into Hess knives. They make very nice small fixed blades from 80-120$. My kids got me one for Father's Day 2 years ago and that knife is what started my addiction. Definitely worth looking into.image.jpg

It looks like its been used, cause I've carried this knife every day for 2 years. Holds up well!

The proven Buck 105, 119 or a growhman bird an
Trout or Canadian belt knife..

I think the guy asked a very reasonable question. Perhaps there are people on this forum who have used both knives and can give a firsthand account of their performance for various tasks. Or perhaps there are people who have one or the other and can give their opinion of their performance. In any event, only the OP can determine what information will be of value to him.
