I would like to start EDCing a SMALL fixed blade, is there anything relitively cheap. The steel dosnt have to be the greatest in the world, just something decent. It also has to be less than 3 inches, 2.5 would be ideal.

Wal-mart has a Gerber fixed blade with what looks to be a 3" blade. They also carry a nice little Buck fixed blade. Both models are under $20.

I have the Gerber fixed blade that Wal*Mart carries. It is called the Bolt. I bought it because I, too, wanted a small cheap fixed blade and didn't care if the steel was that great. For that criteria, the Bolt works well. It is about 14 bucks, sharp enough, and looks cool. It is made from 440A.

It isn't a great knife, but I think it will fit your wants and needs.

Not sure if you can find it at the price you are looking for at a brick and mortar store, but I'd suggest the CRKT Neck P.E.C.K.

Yea , your choices in a walk in store will be few and far between compared to online shopping where you could score an Opinel , CRKT etc etc.

Go here: http://www.ragweedforge.com/ scroll down to the Catalog and check out all of the well-made, inexpensive knives!

The link Mora knives from Eriksson and Frosts of Sweden has many knives under $20. The service is great and shipping very fast.

The site is funky but it's all good. I've bought 4-5 knives and an axe from Ragnar (in 3 different orders). Highly recommended.

I'm a big fan of #2000 under Mora (it's over your range at $30).

(just saw your walk-in only thing. What a bummer! You're missing out on way too many good knives!)

common. save another $20 and buy some decent knife, after all even a single dinner cost more and a knife would be with you for the next couple of years.

I agree with stieg and NI200.

If you *MUST* stay under 20 bucks and definitly can't buy online, I still recommend the Gerber Bolt. But if you can buy online, a Mora is a great deal. 10-15 bucks for a sharp, useable knife. And if you can spend 40 bucks, you can get a Buck 119, Buck Nighthawk, KA-BAR USMC, Becker BK-7 etc... Some of these aren't so small, but they are very easy to carry. I have carried the Bolt and I have carried the 119 and Nighthawk, and the difference isn't that huge when the knife is on your belt. I notice a major different in pocket knives, but for fixed blades on my belt, anything the size of a 119 or smaller is easy to carry and doesn't make much difference.

I also saw these in another thread:

http://www.agrussell.com/knives/new_knives/crkt_side_hawg_2_.html

They look pretty, but they are 420J... I'd rather have the Bolt in 440A.

Try the CRKT STIFF KISS...I think it's about 3.5 inches though...I quite like mine, and I like having a fixed blade that's utterly replaceable so I'm not afraid to treat it like I'm meant to.

Mine was 15 dollars in the mall, so you might be able to find one for 10.

Oops I forgot to mention, walk in establishments only, no online shpping for me.
Plenty of good knives for under $20. Unfortunately you probably won't find them in "real" stores.

My EDC at work is an AG Russell Hunters Scalpel $20. The AG Russell Woodswalker is also a neat knife, $20. Yes, you can buy those at a local store... ...if you happen to live in Springdale, Arkansas.

Stiff KISS from CRKT should be priced at $15-$20, if you can find one.

ANZA has handmade fixed-blade knives starting at $18. You won't those offline though.

What's your deal with ordering online? I find the best selection, best prices, and best service from online knife dealers.

Best Wishes,
Bob

The timberline mini-pit bull is 24$, and just about the right size. A crkt Carson f4 is even cheaper, but smaller.

HHHMM, I think Im gonna bumb it up to 30$, but it HAS to be SMALL. I live in the capital of sheepltown. Thanks for all the replies, Im going to look at the Gerber Bolt tommorow.

Go to your local swap meet or flea market. Otherwise, save up some more money and get a good knife.
