Small Fixed Blade

I'll answer your question with questions: How small (general range)? What price range? Would you consider an SAK/multi-tool?

Without knowing what your planned uses are for this blade, or how much you want to spend, I'll go ahead and recommend the new BK11 from Becker/Ka-Bar. You could do a lot worse for $35.

Check out JK knives (username Stomper here on BF). He's got a subforum, and his knives are great, alot of people here love them. Great small fixed blade EDC's. He's actually running a sale on his Hiker's Backup this month.

Price range is always good to include. I'm quite happy with my Bark River Pro Scalpel II for EDC, and liked my Mikro Canadian II that I used before it. BR has quite a few small fixed blades.

I LOVE my custom by david farmer - just has quality written all over it. I have this one, but with a nicer color handle

IMHO Can't beat it for $75

Hunters Scalpel from AG Russell. I'm a huge fan of this little knife, carried one for years outdoors and at work, and I'm confident that there's no better fixed blade for the price.

The AG Russell Woodswalker is another nice choice. For $20 it includes a leather back pocket sheath.

I don't have any of the small fixed blades from Bark River, but I've been happy with every purchase from them.

In addition to price and size, specifying how you intend to carry the knife will give a much better idea of which one(s) to recommend. Pocket, belt sheath, around neck, in a pack, etc.

How about a Benchmade Snody?
I like mine and it takes and retains a beautiful edge.

I also second T.K.C.'s suggestions.

Mine sits in a safe i cant get it near as shap as the Bark River.
Its a good looking knife though when i bought it i thought it would see more use but the PSK wins all round except edge holding IMO.

Take a look at the Spyderco Street Beat, perhaps one of the best production EDC fixed blades available.

Giving a price range would help.

This is my EDC , Becker BK11. Nothing fancy but light, flat, and takes a great edge.

A very tough little knife and a great bargain.

Bark River has many, many small (pocket sized) fixed blades that suit just about every kind of work. They are worth checking out.

Personally, I often carry their Mini Canadian and a Spirit multitool in an Adirondack pocket sheath.

There are some great small fixed blades out there; I prefer that type of knife so I have quite a few. Check out Blind Horse Knive's Frontier First patch knife and Workcliff. Michael Morris has some great designs and, of course, the minis and mikros from Bark River. Look at Larry Voorhies designs, too.

I wish I could afford an Ingrham or Mays, they are great designs and exceptional quality. I also have a Benchmade Snody and I was very disappointed. It was very dull out of the box and I've never been able to get an decent edge on it. For that kind of money, it should hold an edge. I guess I should just get rid of it.
