Small Folders w/M390

In your quest keep in mind Carpenter CTS-204P is the same steel as the M390, the difference being the CTS-204P is a U.S. made steel

in that size range, don't discredit a spyderco techno with cts-xhp... every bit as good if not better than the m390 imho and I've used both extensively, not cut paper and said "this is amazing"...

Three Sisters Forge BEAST & CCT.

I'll echo this and say I've had one for about 6 months and I really love. It's a stout folder and tough as nails with a 3" blade length. Mr. Allen is absolutely awesome to work with too. He's super quick to reply to emails and is just all around really nice. Love my beast.

The Benchmade 480-1 Shoki is a beautiful piece with the M390 steel but the Nak-Lok locking mechanism is not the strongest.

Yea it's definitely a gentlemans folder. It's more than adiquate for the tasks most people will ask of it (especially considering it's now disco'd). Beautiful knife. The lanyard attachment is one of my favorite features.

Sheesh, it appears as if Benchmade has a good handle on the 3" and less M390 market!

RamZar, Cereal_Killer - what do you guys think of this one: Benchmade 707-1201 Sequel

I stumbled across it while looking through Benchmade's website about a month ago and was surprised it hadn't been more popular.

Its a great knife, very limited production so especially if your gonna use it I say go for it man, I imagine most of 'em are bought up and stuck in a safe.

If you want one get it while you can.

The reason the 707-1201 isn't more popular is because it has aluminum handles, which get scratched up easily during carry.

I have one. The 707 by itself is a great little folder. My very first Benchmade back in August 2005 was a 707SBK. The 707-1201 looks great with blue aluminum, CF and M390. Exclusive to one dealer and expensive.

This is what primarily kept me from buying one, it looks like a great knife but the cost seems a little outlandish.

Iirc all of the black blade PE's are gone and most of the satin PE's are gone too, if you want one get it now, once there gone the price is only gonna get even higher on the secondary market.

I have 2 BM707-1201's. I love the sequel and M390. I don't own many knives (5-6), but this one I couldn't pass up. Had to have a back up as they don't come around often and possibly less often these days. I'm making custom CF/G10 layered scales for it to combat the poor durability of the aluminum. Should turn out well. I would definitely recommend the 707-1201 for m390 in a ~3" blade.

In case there weren't enough Benchmades suggested, how about the new 484 Nakamura Axis? 3.08" M390 blade.
