I really like the small fixed knives from Maker Jens Anso. But they are stock-removal and I am looking only for forged blades.

I am not asking for a copy of one of Jens knives.

Blade length around 2 - 2.5"
Handle same length
Fine, delicate leather sheath (no neck knife)

Which bladesmith has experience with such kind of knives?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Any of the custom makers that forge knives and frequent this forums is capible of making what you desire.

I think just about any ABS MS or JS is capable of making your knife.

I have a knife from Dennis Riley which was a steal in terms of value.

Nick Wheeler fixed me up with a smaller blade that is out of this world beautiful.

Then there is the little neck knife from MS Caffrey.

And the list goes on. There are so many good 'smiths out there, choosing just one isn't that easy ;)

I love that you should pony up to Jens and order one of HIS knives if you haven't already. For a simple 2.5" blade I can't understand the need for forged. And if you wish for it to be a collection piece, then all the more reason to support the talents of this young full-time maker with a family to support. Borrowing his designs by another is not 100% fair to him, correct?

Then again, if you have one of his already, then, well, I'll shutup.... ;)

Maybe I'd better reread your post. Forget what I said.

Walks away shaking his head and mumbling....

Hey, Coop! lighten up on the caffeine! ;)

btw - general question for anyone - What is it about forged blades that make them superior in cutting and edge holding to stock removal blades?

I know that I recently read something about this in one of the knife mags. I'm not sure if they went into the detail about why exactly that is the way it is or if they just stated the fact that forged blades are superior to stock removal blades in that matter.

If I get around to it later, I will check and get back to you guys :)

forged/stock removal = chicken/egg debate

I have my opinion, but I'm keepin' it to myself...:D

I think P. Moore does lil' forged blades, but I could be wrong....
