Small gear bag recommendation?

Looking for a smaller gear bag for items like larger folding knife or fixed blade, light, multi-tool and other such things. Was thinking 6+ inches wide, 7+ high, not very deep. Probably internal pockets or elastic straps. Something I could throw in my messenger bag, a backpack, the car.

Any suggestions?

I purchased this Spec Ops organizer. It is small enough to not get in the way, but holds quite a bit of stuff...

I also have the maxpedition fatboy - it's a great bag. I've had it for over two years now and it's still great.

CountryComms EOD Utility bag is the cats ass! the two inner pockets hold a Pelican 1010 micro case perfectly. The mesh pouch holds a bag of first aid kit very well (or documents) and there is room for blades, handgun, ammo etc.

I second the recommendation of the CountyComms bag. I just took it up to the mountains for a weekend; it took first aid and survival kit, lights, firelighting stuff, and excess clothing, and I strapped a fixed blade and a flashlight to the outside. I'm thinking about ordering another...

The OP seems to want something that can fit inside a messenger bag, so that puts out the Fat Boy. I would suggest looking at Spec Ops, Eagle Industries, Maxpedition, and County Comm for something that fits the bill. They all have similar offerings for Organizer type bags with varying pockets and holders on the inside.

+1 on the County Comm EOD bag. I have two of 'em now. :D

They're small but I can fit a 12" screen laptop inside one if I take the battery off. Small, but large. (I know that makes no sense at all :D)

I've got a Spec-Ops Brand PACK RAT. It might work for you. If the PR is too much, maybe the OP-ORDER LOGISTICS POUCH. It's a smaller version of the same concept.

I also got a TAD Gear OP1 Pouch. This is much flatter than the others but also has great dividers: pockets, zippers, velcro, and elastic straps. I use mine for a medical/small tool pouch, and it drops into my gear bag easily.

I think it was inspired by the Spec-Ops On-Board, but it opens up and ties down much better. They both fit perfectly into a field jacket lower pocket or a cargo pocket.

Thanks for all the sources. I went through several of the sites, and although this is may be a little bigger than what I mentioned, it looks like it would carry a variety of items and still fit in a messenger bag or other bag easily. Lots of straps, loops and pockets too. Going to try one and see how it works.

Got one. Notice the left hand side, it's all velcro, and the three long velcro straps can be configured to hold any small items you want. You can use any other velcro straps to supplement them, too.

I had gotten their IS-100, 72 Hour Response Bag. The Responder Pouch fits exactly into one of its two front pockets. I'm planning on using it as a survival tool organizer.

I got the County Comm Responder bag and really like it. All the pockets, straps and the big velcro field really hold a lot of stuff. Recommended! And for the price, I think it would be tough to beat....
