I have a small Trailing moon coming in a week or so. It has a few scratches on the "polished" scale with the graphic. Since I´m on the other side of the pond (Europe) I won´t be shipping this baby of to CRK.
What kind of tools do I need for cleaning up the scratches....? Been thinking about using 1000 grit on a sheat of glass and then "drag" the scale over it (One direction only, and in a straight line)
Take care,
ALIass

You can give it a try, but my advice to you is to live with the scratch or send it back to CR Knives. I tell you this from experience. I tried to fix a "small scratch" on my inlaid Classic and really messed it up. I ended up sending it back to CR Knives and they fixed it like new.

I say you gotta live with the scratches. On a highly polished surface they're just about impossible to prevent. I too tried to get out a little scratch and ended up paying a lot to get it fixed.

I've used 2000 wet/dry paper wet, and just rubbed lightly on the surface, above the graphics and it worked very well. Your experience may vary! :D

Thank´s guys!! Now I´m sure I don´t know what I´m going to do... :p ;)
I guess I´ll wait and see. Since it´s going to be a user I might as well leave the scratches on for now :D
Have a great weekend,

ALIass,

It's to late an advice, but if you knew about the "scratches" you should have had it shipped from the seller to CR ,they would have fixed it for $21 + $10 return postage to the seller and from there it could have been send to you.
The postage for the seller to CR would not have been more then $7 or so even for insured mail and it could have been a "negotiated" part of the trade.
CR would also check the knife, sharpen it for free and give it a checkup.

Worked for me the last time and this is my baby even before CR polished the handle with the graphic :)

Isn't it a nice one even before cleaning/polishing

I use Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish that you can find in the automotive department of your local Wal*Mart, Meijer, Target, etc. It works extremely well to remove small scratches from my small Stars & Stripes. :)

I agree with Bucky. Mothers will not scratch, so you will not have to worry about messing up your handle. Try at your own risk though. Good Luck!

Really *fine* scratches on the polished TI flats of the handles and satin finish portions of the blade seem to respond well to Flitz, so a fine polish like Mothers or any other metal polish may also work well. I have had pretty good results if the polishing motion is made in the same direction as the grind lines of the metal.
