A stainless/carbon laminated blade was something I've wanted to try for some time so in the midst of a larger project I'm working on, I made this.
Also, kitchen cutlery is something I'm interested in but have not explored much.

It's a 52100 core with 416SS sides. The blade is about 4 7/8" long and less than 1/8" thick where it meets the handle. OAL is 9 3/8"
The handle is blackwood and Koa with a warthog tusk spacer.

I didn't leave the black oxides that you see on most laminated blades and the shinyness of the SS isn't showing in this photo but with use, the colours in the patina will really look nice in contrast to the stainless.

Thanks for looking

Looks fantastic to me! Really nice package all over. Great looking leather as well.

Stuart--Very nice effort out of the gate. Flow and lines look right for the shape. It happens to be a size that I'm not interested in(I go either for full sized chef or little paring), but looks great for that size knife. I will eagerly look for more kitchen knives from you.

Thanks everyone. This was my first stab at a laminated blade; well actually the second as the first billet didn't weld as my forge didn't get hot enough. I had to reline it but it cooks now and gets up to heat quickly.. so that in itself was a good thing.
So... seeing as how 416 isn't cheap I thought I'd start small.. :p But the shape is one I've had drawn for some time so I will be making some larger versions in the future.
