I have read you want a small hammer to peen slipjoint covers. 2oz or 4oz or??? Whats your favorite? If it makes a difference stabilized wood is what I think I will be working with most.

I use a 1 oz. hammer. The 2 oz. should work. I seldom use the peen side, but at times it comes in handy.
You want to use speed-not force, to mushroom the head of the pin-not the shaft.

I initially set the pin with a 16 oz hammer - 1 hit - it will mushroom both sides really well, and then I switch over to a 2oz to do all the final work.
