Went out to a local state park near Houston for a little hike today. Wanted to fish a little - but the Brazos river was HIGH, muddy and fast - so I just tested my new fishing kits.

On the way out I found these little guys - with massive highways built. They were constructing a HUGE mound:

I collected some material for a bow drill fire - I will test that tomorrow and post back.

Great to get out with the family eh buddy !

Ain't it a little late in the year for wood ants ? I'm sure they are all tucked away deep underground here !!!

No - but I wish that was my pic! ;)

Neither of my kids have been on a horse yet - they are little timid around them.

Justin,

There is no 'off' season in Houston - ground never freezes. With the rain - I think they were evicted...

Wasn't that your picture awhile back, that showed a blonde leading a horse with your son on it?

This one?

GS, GS, GS, shame on you for what you're thinking.

She is attractive, and a cosmopolitan man can appreciate beauty in whatever form it takes, but in this case, she reminds me of a girl in the choir of our church.

Perhaps time for a bit of introspection, on your part, GS? ;)

Jeez, Doc....
Wasn't that picture originally a FULL shot with the kid-on-pony in the foreground? Now it's all cropped and framed around the ranch hand... hmm... are there laminated prints of this photo stashed in the garage where you practice your handdrill? It's enough to make me reevaluate the times you told us you were scouting around taking pictures of "Flora and Fauna".... hmmmm... nieghbor's daughters?

Rick

Rick, the only problem I see with Doc taking his pictures like that - is that he hasn't shared them with us... yet.

Good job calling him out.

Actually guys... that photo was from a Brian Andrews thread.

Jeff

All that outdoor living and survival practice is doing good things for Brian if you ask me.

Obviously I'm not the only one that likes the picture, based on the fact that it's been reposted 3 times so far!!!

Doc :D
