Just finishing this one up. I'm going on a business trip tomorrow. When I get back on Friday, I'll finish it up and make the sheath. I'm thinking about putting this one on the "for sale" threads here when it's done.

Specs...
  • 52100 edge quenched...triple tempered at 400 degrees F.
  • Real nice temper line
  • Blade length...Just over 2"
  • From tip of blade to guard is 2-5/8"
  • Total length...6-1/4"
  • Nice distal taper
  • Brass guard
  • Stabilized California Buckeye Burl (has some nice little birdseyes in it)
  • Hidden tang with one brass pin

Do you like this one?

I like the guard. Is the buckeye dyed?

Thank you. The buckeye burl is dyed. It's a piece I bought off of Mike at WSSI a few years back at a knife show. My wife liked the color and pattern in it, and suggested that I buy it.

I finally made a knife that I thought it would look good with.

I've got a bunch of buckeye burl that I bought in slab form from Burl Country while driving up the california coast about 5 years ago. I cut it up two years ago into 1.5" X 2" X 6" pieces. I need to send it to Mike and get it stabilized, since this was the last piece of stabilized Cal. Buckeye that I had left in my supplies.

I decided to give this one to the wife. I'm not happy with the fit of the guard against the ricasso. There's a slight gap. It's almost to small to see, but I know that it's there. She loved the knife anyhow.
