I made this hunter from a 5/16" by 3/8" scrap of 5160. I gave the bar a twist in the middle about 3 times and then forged the tang and blade.

The blade is 4.5" long and this on has a black walnut handle. The blade is edge quenched (3 times) and triple tempered. It is convex ground. It etched it in ferric chloride and then re-buffed the blade. It shows the grain refinement from the edge to spine very well.

What do you all think of it? I started with no plan and kinda let it decide what it would look like. Reminds me of a big teardrop or something like that!

Geez that thing sucks:p

Ha! Just kidding, that's COOL! I've seen lots of twisted RR spikes but not a knife like that...very cool idea!

And I admire your heat-treating....always being a stock-removal maker sending blades to Paul has put me at the beginning of the line for learning the sort of treatment you did on this knife...awesome! :)

i like the drop of the blade and handle. looks like it would be comfy in the hand, also i make about half of by blades by just stsrting to grind and see what comes out. it really lets me drift off into knife land. i love it.

Awesome Knife....Great idea with the twist,It makes it a very unique piece.
Keep them coming.
