Small Insingo Seb-Micarta or No?

I'm getting so close to pulling the trigger on a Small Seb Insingo.......but I can't decide on micarta or no? I'd love to hear the cases for either. I learned today that the micarta seems to have a semi-cult following, but why?

I coveted the Sebbie 25 with micarta inlays and then finally scored one. I eventually went with a plain 25. The inlays were too "busy" and the split in the middle felt weird when using the knife. Plus, the inlays are not really inlayed but widen the profile of the knife. It felt thick in the right front pocket. The plain 25 suited me better in both areas.

I usually carry 2-5 blades on any given day. The least I carry is two and those are usually my 25 in the right front pocket and the EK & T Dart around my neck.

I never leave home without a necker and the slim 25 vanishes in my front pocket.

The 25 is quite a bit different than a small Sebenza, though.

When it comes to the small, I would highly recommend micarta inlays. There's a reason the small micarta insingo has a cult following. The inlays fill the hand nicely on the small-ish handle, and the insingo blade shape is perfect for EDC. On a large both options are great, on a small the micarta is the clear winner in my mind.

I wish the Insingo blade was offered in more inlays. They do help the feel of the small 21.

Agreed. If for some reason they don't want to distribute them to dealers, Insingo blades could at least be an option on other inlays ordered direct from CRK.

Here's the reasons I love the micarta in lays on any CRK folder

Micarta inlay is the only inlay CRK will blast on both sides.
Micarta will darken with continued use, you can wash the micarta to gain some original color back.
With it being an "Inlayed model", I don't baby it.
Micarta does provide a better grip, only slightly though. I don't freak out if the micarta gets wet from weather, sweat or working in a dirty environment.
I like the looks of the micarta and it is functional in my world.

Inlays help with overall feel and grip. Fills out in the hand more. I have 2 small sebenzas, insingo and 21 regular small. Both are in micarta.

I have both the small plain and Micarta Insingos. I still can't decide on my preference. I like the character of the plain Jane with the scratches created by use and the pure simplicity, but the Micarta does fill the hand better and is notices when I use it for any length of time. I have a more emotional attachment to the plain but I got it new and have had it longer. Don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I have the small plain jane insingo. I love the plain handles and the character they develope. I've only ever handled the micarta versions but they felt very nice. Plain for me though!

I say get the plain small Insigno and have Steve Ketchen do a custom scale for you.

I prefer the micarta to bare ti. Tends to lend a better purchase..especially when wet or bloody. I occasionally will use my large 21 micarta on deer for trimming fat, skinning etc.

Have plain sm insingo, recently purchased a large micarta 21, really like the fuller handle and may trade up my small for one with inlays.

My small Insingo is with micarta inlays and it is a very good combination
Inlays give a better grip on the small handle and the added thickness is not noticeable when carrying the knife in a pocket

You may like to have even a thinner handle and in this case without inlays can also work fine

At the end it will be a question of personal taste

My next small seb will be a clip point and I won't take it with inlays

I like the Insingo better with inlays while I think the clip point will work better for me without... Maybe because of the kind of grip I take depending of the blade shape ..

Another vote for small micarta insingo. I have three small insingos: CF, plain, and micarta. I often carry the CF because it is such a lightweight, but the micarta feels best in hand by far. The little extra width fills out your hand nicely and offers a bit more purchase. The fit of the body and the shape blade make it a great EDC. I stopped carrying the plain one altogether.

I have plain and Micarta in both sizes.
Hard to say which I like the best, but I do now carry a Small Plain Insingo everyday.

I was on a Micarta kick for years, and that's about all I carried, but I've now went back to the plains.
I like the smooth feel of the Ti, the thinness, and I can get my thumb on the plain thumb stud much better than on a small Micarta.
Can't go wrong with either really.

Small Micarta Insingo is my most carried. I have a plain jane one as well.
The Micarta adds just enough hand friction to make this knife a very comfortable carrier.
