I have a small issue or two with my para 2 that I could live with but if it can be fixed I'd like to do so. bassicly the knife has a smooth deployment but it doesn't swing open when I push down the compression lock. I tried messing with the tightness of it however if I do get it to where it's swinging open it has noticeable side to side play. I was just wondering what the issue with this is and if it can be fixed

I wouldn't say there is an "issue" per se, but maybe it just needs a good cleaning of any manufacturing debris and then lubed. Another possibility is that you just need to break it in.

I've had this knife for a while and the inside is clean and broken in. I forgot to mention that the blade is slightly off center

I just got a para 2 and mine wasn't as smooth as I expected it would be. I added two drops of oil and it came to life. Feels perfect now. All I can say is that you should adjust the pivot back to where the blade is centered and oil it. If that doesn't work, then try some more complicated things.

That was the case with mine. It started out stiff, but after I cleaned and lubed it (CRK flourinated grease) it now swings freely with zero blade play and perfect centering. Understand the pivot is threaded from both sides (held from spinning by the "D" shape on the non-lock side) and will need to be adjusted from both sides. My non-lock side bolt came much too tight from the box.

If oil doesn't work, you can always take it apart and buff the blade tang where the phosphor bronze bushings touch. 2 out of 3 of my pm2s don't swing closed, but I could care less.

This. Whatever you do, I would not use it with a loose pivot at all - the PM2 has a bushing system which is designed to have the pivot screws tightened all the way.

One thing you can do is use it loosen the pivot (temporarily) and try washing with soap/water with the loose pivot - the dry it with a compressor or canned air. Then lube it (still while the pivot is loose) and then tighten the pivot back before use.

You can adjust the blade-centering on a PM2 just like a liner-lock (by loosening all the screws on the handle and pushing the blade towards center and then tightening the handle-screws).

I just took apart and cleaned her out. fixed the centering problem but no more smooth. actually a little worse. still can be flicked open and closed with little effort. but defiantly not as smooth. also I noticed that on the washers there was some blue ish black tarnishing.

Mine was in pretty much the same boat. Breaking it in definitely helped. I found that I have to flip it on the same plain as the blade, any variation and it will reduce the smoothness. Since found it has been smooth sailing.

same plain as the blade? can you dumb that down for me? :D

With my black on black Para 2, after using for a while to break it in it still didn't have a nice free moving blade with the lock held in.

I found that by loosening the pivot screw and the screw next to it a little, moving the blade and poking at the standoff under the screw (by the compression lock), then tightening them up, that I could change how easily the blade moved. After fiddling with this for a while it now is smooth and free just like I wanted.

My brown/S35V is mint, no adjustment needed.
